BEST VENUE 2009 POLL - Fudge Awards

Recommended Posts

Righty-o, it's time.

Welcome to the first poll for this years Fudge Awards.

The Fudge Awards 2009 will be held at The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen on Friday 13th February. It's our ninth annual awards shindig, featuring three live bands and a two-part awards ceremony (it's very tounge-in-cheek, don't worry), where we celebrate the best bands Aberdeen's had to offer over the past year.

We'll post a series of polls online at aberdeen-music where you can vote for your favourites. There will also be voting slips available at Fudge gigs and clubnights. We'll total these votes up and arrive at our winner... who will be announced before their star-struck fans at the Lemon Tree awards show, and have a chance to enter local messageboard forklore with a highly drunken acceptance speech. Hurrah!

In the, the first poll of many, we ask:

BEST VENUE IN ABERDEEN 2009?

Please vote above. Thanks.

And lest we forget...

BEST VENUE WINNERS:

2003 - Dr. Drakes

2004 - Dr. Drakes

2005 - Dr. Drakes

2006 - The Moorings Bar

2007 - The Moorings Bar

2008 - The Moorings Bar

I'm going for Snafu for the massive strides they have made in the last few years. Danana... in there was the best gig I saw last year (possibly).

I was close to opting for Snafu too. I love going to gigs there, but it's not quite as brilliant being on the stage there. The onstage monitor system isn't quite as good as it could be.

Thus, The Tunnels for the win.

We've only played Tunnels twice, once it was really good, the other time was a disorganised farce, which really put me off the place. I've always found Moorings a much more enjoyable venue, both in terms of their stage set up and sound while playing gigs, and in the general atmoshpere while attending gigs.

The Moorings is head and shoulders above any other venue in the city, either current or in the past in my opinion. I'm talking in terms of set-up, atmosphere, helpfulness / usefulness of sound engineer, layout, friendliness... I don't have enough superlatives for it. Playing a gig at the Moorings is like getting a big cuddle.

Yeah Moorings has a crisp and beefy sound and no mistake. Hmmm, I'm hungry.

Uh, yeah I voted The Lemon Tree because of the great sound, the perfect level of volume they employ and also for the way they cater to make bands feel "like proper bands" with small perks etc.

All in all they are the most professional.
