Scootray
Strawberry smoothies FTW! And fresh strawberries for a change, not frozen. If my blender breaks I'm getting scurvy.A new blender would cost less, surely?
Le Stu
A new blender would cost less, surely? It would be my third, and I may go on vitamin C strike in protest!Perhaps I could return to conventional fruit eating but I have my doubts... Scootray
Are to prone to breaking blenders by sticking tough fruit in there?
Le Stu
Are to prone to breaking blenders by sticking tough fruit in there?Very. One frozen kumquat can shatter the bastard. You must pulse gently, adding the orange lubricant slowly.

Le Stu
that's what she said.Well, blending fruit is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman. You must respect the fruit and treat it gently, or face the consequences.

Lemonade
I bought some lovely fresh prawns yesterday from Sainsburys, covered the fuckers in thousand island dressing and served it up with a salad, deelish I tell thee.
Soda Jerk
Prawns are mint.I wish they were cheaper so I could have them with every meal
Lemonade
I got a big box of them out of Sainsburys for 2. They weren't amazing (supermarket prawns are always so small!) but they did the job.
Soda Jerk
I have a bag of frozen ones. Also not great, but decent sauce filler. I had massive prawns as a starter at my Nans weddings a couple of years ago. In comparison, it makes all my meals to this day look and taste like shit. It was just too good. Lemonade
Massive prawns are win. I recommend you visit the Eagle May Chinese takeaway in the Hardgate and order the special Foo Yung. Essentially a 5 omelette, but the prawns in it are like the size of a fist. They fucking rule.
Soda Jerk
Not so fond of Foo Yung myself. Are all their prawns in other dishes the same size?
Chris
Glad this thread got resurrected again.I had a big bowl of mussels in a cream and chive sauce at The Marine in Stoney on Saturday afternoon. Best eating I've done this month so far.
DJ Jo-D
I prefer the smaller ones, or the big ones if they are soft...hate the big hard king things you get yuck!Cooked in butter garlic, ginger & chilli's mmmmmmm delight!!! Lemonade
Not so fond of Foo Yung myself. Are all their prawns in other dishes the same size?I can't say for sure, but presumably they use the same prawns in that as they use for everything else. I think I may have had a special Chow Mein once with big prawns.
Chris
Little prawns bad (well, they're ok in a sandwhich). Big, massive, juicy prawns good. Especially in batter with some garlic mayo.

Lemonade
ooh that reminds me I have a fine paella recipe which is chicken & chorizo - I really need to make that asap!!!My mate Manuel made me a paella last year and it was fucking superb. I can't remember what he put it in but I definitely remember mussels, chorizo and red wine going in. He's a chef (kind of), and also Spanish (kind of), a good combination for someone who's making you a paella.
