Pet Hates!

I can take or leave their beer, but a lot of people seem to be very vocal about their dislike of the company recently. It's hip to hate them.

Two gobshites at work refused to step foot in the new Brewdog bar on Friday night on our office's Xmas night out. An actual on-the-spot boycott. It was stupid. They're stood at the door, ranting in tandem about Brewdog. One of them didn't seem to have a problem swigging his can of Coke and scoffing his Nestle chocolate bar at lunch. You know, companies who subscribe to mass violation of human rights, but he wouldn't go into a pub because he thinks James Watt is a bit of a knob and he thinks the stickers on the Brewdog bottles are patronising. Shithouses.

I hope you left them outside and went in anyway.

Unfortunately not. They threw a wobbler significant enough to make us go elsewhere. Some rough pub off of Market Street. A total dump filled with junkies. Because that's better. Then we ended up a casino. We really stuck it to the man that night.

It wasn't an isolated occurrence though. I seem to see it on Facebook a lot, bizarre rants about Brewdog that don't seem to have a real point to it other than letting people know they don't like Brewdog. Folk who don't like it seem insistent on letting you know about it. What's this James Watt fella done that's so bad that he has his own hate mob?

I dinna mind the pubs either but to be fair, James watt is a massive bellend.

Also I canna wait to un-subcribe from their fucking pish EFP emails. I need to hang on until I finally get one that says I can sell my fucking shares. It's tantamount to theft really.

I always assumed that buying Brewdog shares was like buying shares in a football club. You just write that money off and hold on to your shares forever.

It's part of the problem with coming from the North East of Scotland, you're not supposed to better yourself or be successful, you're just supposed to put up with working in the oil or fish and fuck you if you dare to dream, it's even worse if you contemplate creating something that will allow others to benefit from your success.

I like Brewdog, as again they got me to try different beers. I like supporting them as they are local and seem to be doing a good job. The marketing and bollocks on the bottles are just there to get a reaction, the main thing that matters is if you like the beer and bars.

If everyone boycotted companies where they didn't like the owner, I dare say Sky, Fox, the Sun, the Times and all other News International properties would be bust by now.

Got this on my Facebook newsfeed today

"This phone was found at brewdog castlegate. Can someone inform Andrew Davidson to come in and collect it.

Thanks.

P.s come in past and try the awesome beer and legendary chicken wings!!"

Shameless cunts. Helpful, shameless cunts.

So lets see. they posted on Facebook that someone found a phone in their bar. I think that's good.

The guy then makes a pitch by saying to try the beer and food. So is there something wrong with trying to get people to buy/try your product? Nothing shameful in trying to keep yourself in a job as long as it's not at the cost of slagging off your workmates to keep your own job. Maybe another Scottish/NE trait?

I'm glad to see your humour bypass surgery went well.

Some of their beer is okay, and the pub is a nice enough place to sit in. They do have some of the worst marketing patter of any company around though. I guess if there a lot of people vocally disliking it nowadays it's mostly a reaction to the over the top fanboys going on about them too much.

Making such a fuss about going into a bar on a work night out is fucking stupid though and I feel embarrassed about it even though I wasn't there or have no idea who the people are. Imagine actually doing that. How big was the group?

I am fed up with the term craft beer. I wish that would go away.

I don't have a problem with the marketing, the hype, the shock value (ethics aside and mass consumerism being the polar opposite of punk), I do have a problem with their beer being shit though. That's personal opinion though, others can obviously like what they like etc.

I thought the venue was SNAFU, which was hardly a mid-sized venue, unless it's had a major internal redisgn the stage was in a less than optimum position for maximum crowd coverage. Anyone in the know with details, I don't get out on the casual as much as I used to.

Same. I don't even know what it means anymore. Why isn't all beer just beer?

A man in California sued 'Blue Moon' because the label on the bottle calls it a 'craft beer', but it's a beer made by Coors, which apparently means it's not a craft beer.

Imagine being so offended at a beer allegedly falsely-parading as a "craft beer" (when really it's just a regular beer) that you resort to suing the brewery. Imagine being that much of a pointless shit head that you would do that.
