Singing lessons offered...

Recommended Posts

.. in my spare room, so I have no overheads. 10 per hour, lessons given on an informal and ad-hoc basis. I can also come along to a band practice and give advice to a group for the same rate.

i could be quite interested in this, ad hoc basis works...

probably sometime in january, i particularly need to work on my breathing techniques, etc.

youve heard me sing before so im sure you could probably pick up quite easily what it is i really need to work on.

ive got your number from back feugh fest days, can i just give you a wee text or something when ive thought a wee bit more about it? would be good to hear from you to see if you think you can improve my singing, ive been lucky with singing so far lol, i lack some key skills! and i feel like a noob.

what dya think?

Bump!

Lessons are up and running for anyone who fancies.

I can take payment via paypal for those of you who want to book lessons in advance and get it out of the way while they have just been paid.

I'll do you a deal: five 1-hour lessons for 40 (save 10).

Cheers

Jayne

What qualifications/experience do you have?

Hiya

I have ABRSM Grade 8 singing with Distinction and Grade 5 Music Theory. I am a choral scholar with the University and just about to finish a BMus Music Performance specialising as a 1st soprano. I play sax and sing with two local covers bands which play ska and funk/soul. I sing a lot each week with university choirs and concerts. I am planning to sit my Diploma in music performance this summer.

Cheers

Just wondering what age range you would teach, would you teach children and if so what age do you think is best for starting?

Hi there

I have experience of teaching children and have Enhanced Disclosure. I would say that it would be best to start lessons at about 6/7/8 years old, just to make sure they are genuinely interested and their attention span isn't too bad.

As a teacher I would have to adapt my approach for young children. You have to be careful not to strain the voice as you only have a small vocal range when you are young. Lessons would be half vocal technique and half learning about rhythm, reading music, improvisation, etc.

cheers

My little girl is six in July and desperate for singing lessons - I agree with you so in a few months I may contact you. Where are you based?

If that was a pre-requisite, many good tutors in the city would be out of a job.

Agreed, and I'm not saying it should be. Nor am I having a go at anyone at all. But it helps to know if someone can actually teach or not - a great player doesn't always mean a great teacher. I'm quite good at sums and reading, but I wouldn't say I could be a primary teacher...

Hi, I'm interested. I'm a beginner looking to sing in a pop/rock style. When are you free? I work full time so I'm looking for lessons either at evenings or weekends.

Cheers

That all sounds very impressive.

BTW, you will have to ignore Biz as he is just a foolish old man that used to skateboard down Kirk Street in the early morning.
