Guest idol_wild
Angelo Badalamenti gets my vote. Most notably, in my opinion, for The Straight Story.
Alkaline
Badalamenti and John Barry get my votes. I enjoy Zimmer's stuff as well, as i do with Danny Elfman's stuff.

Afro Droid
Hans Zimmerman wrote the music to the truely abysmal Dr Who charity single 'Doctor in Distress' in '86.I vote John Williams, I kick it old school. Elfman is shite, all his music sounds the same.

'Cause that was a good score.PS An honourable mention for Mark Knopfler, specifically Local Hero, but he's also done some other good stuff like Last Exit to Brooklyn. Alan Cynic
I know he's a bit uncool, but I like some John Barry s'tracks....especially the early stuff (eg Four in the morning).

'Cause that was a good score. It was a tip of the hat to Badlands as the plot of True Romance is much the same (Bad guy meets nice girl, takes her away from it all, ending in bloodshed/arrests etc) and it was really a homage, like flyingsinatra said. Also, yes, he did Driving Miss Daisy. Great score, too.

Swingin' Ryan
Morricone?Clearly the correct answer. Also, don't forget Mark Mothersbaugh. Not only was he in Devo and he scored most of Wes Anderson's films but he also did the Crash Bandicoot score.
