Dayeth
I quite like him, not interested in structured songs with lyrics though. I'll take back the bit about no classical, I'd rather it LEANED towards that.

Panda Strong
John Cage is also an obvious reference point, judging by the examples posted.Maybe not when he goes crazy minimal on your ass though.

ca_gere
His album with alva noto is so nice. Not heard it yet unfortunately. He's made so much music that it'll take a lot of time to get through it all.'Nice' really is the best word to describe a lot of his stuff. Monster Zero
...piano driven, epic as possible, not particularly experimental and not classical. No singing if possible. Any suggestions?TaTry Silver Ray. 3 piece band, piano, guitar and drums, no vocals. 'Humans' is a good starting point. maybe not piano orientated enough for what you are after though....The Johan Johannsson 'Fordlandia' album I bought recently may fit the bill. pogofish
...piano driven, epic as possible, not particularly experimental and not classical. No singing if possible. Any suggestions?TaJohannes Schmoelling era Tangerine Dream (early-mid 80s)had some superb piano work that would fit your frame. Some of it suffers from various levels of classical pretention tho. Also agree that Sakamoto is worth a listen.Vangelis of course but the classicism is ever present & becomes more prominent as time goes on. The59Sound
'Those Who Left' and 'Holy Lord, Shawshank Redemption is Such a Good Movie' by Murder By Death both tick this box. Unfortunately, YouTube isn't co-operating and there's no decent videos. Still, worth a look.
