Bigsby
Yes, a while ago. Block of flats on its way...Damn. It's one of those places, like Murdo's, that looks so crap that I want to go in and check it out. Although I felt the same about Peep Peeps and that was a disappointment. Guest idol_wild
I haven't, sounds great though. Where is it?I can't remember, exactly. I have family connections in Torry and it was for my uncle's 40th birthday party. It was within the depths of Torry - Grampian Circle sort of vicinity, probably. It was not good. Bigsby
Actually it's just along the road from my bandmate dave's house, so we'll need to nip in for a post jam pint.
Guest idol_wild
The White Cockade | FacebookI can't access Facebook at work, but I'm sure that is beautiful. I'll join this evening, when I'm at home. And write stuff all over their wall. In addition to urinating on it. Oh wait, I did that when I was there in person. Frosty Jack
The Cockade's not all that bad. Certainly a lot better than it used to be since it got a good facelift a few years ago. The guys that own the Greentrees in Dyce and somewhere in Bod (parkway?) bought it over and cleaned it up quite a lot with TVs, carpets, actual furniture etc. Took them weeks though, When they re-opened all the punters thought they'd changed the beer, because the pipes were actually clean for the first time in years. Supposedly they eradicated the rife drug problems by spraying every level surface in the bogs with WD40.Still wouldn't mince in and ask for a babycham though... Lemonade
My new local boozer is the Abbot in Kincorth. Nae bastard chance I would set foot in that place. I'm scared enough going into the chip shop next door to it!
Alan Cynic
Following the comments about it on another thread, I paid a visit recently to the 524 Cocktail Bar....it was actually calm and pleasant, although admittedly it was at dinner time. I might even nip in again today for a return visit.Apologies for mentioning this again, but I did an album featuring 'found sounds' from various pubs, starting at Torry and ending up at the Holburn Bar. The only sign of unpleasantness was in the Snuggery where a scrap started, with chairs being wielded.

Alan Cynic
The funny thing about it was, after the melee had ended, and I fnally plucked up the courage to remove myself from the corner where I'd been lurking, the barmaid called out a cheerful 'see you later darling' !!! Bigsby
I've said this before, but your "pub crawl" song from the Tune-A-Day series is a work of genius.
Alan Cynic
Thanks! One of these days I'll learn it & do it live.I missed out on most 'clubs' in the 80s /90s......just went to pubs such as the Prince of Wales or Ma's (before it got spoiled by the big 'join-up' of the wee rooms), and gigs at the Venue, Ruffles etc, where I felt more out of place then than I do now, despite being an auld manny and an embarrassment. Alan Cynic
Aye,......no Tennents, just Fosters etc I did go in again today, and some old wifey was told to leave for 'bringing the place down' because she was tapping drinks off of some even older manny (not me!).They had some Polish sports channel on, showing English football. Flash@TMB
Does anyone here remember the Glider club night? It was held in the Hotel Metro but not in the Pelican or Metro club areas. It was on the floor before the Metro ballroom and facing the other way. I remember going there in 1996.
