GraemeC
I have in my possesion a fairly large collection of dance vinyl from the 80's and 90's... I want to sell them but im not sure how best to go about it, ideally I would like someone to give me a decent price for the whole collection. There are 500+ 12" records, is there still a large enough market for this? is there a dealer in Aberdeen who might be interested? I might resort to splitting the collection into small lots and posting them on ebay...is this a good idea?Any advise?G...
The Kernel Loaf
Sounds like an absolute goldmine. Pity I don't collect vinyl at the moment.I am guessing your best bets would obviously be the Cavern and One-Up, although I am not sure how specialised they are when it comes to electronica. framheim
one up won't give you a decent price for them, they just offer a flat fee for second hand vinyl. your best bet would be to catalogue the collection first and pick out the rarities and put them on ebay or sell them to a specialist. then sell the rest as a job lot or as smaller lots. once you've catalogued the collection you could send this list out to dance specialists and see if they'd be interested in buying whole shebang for a fair price.i'd imagine you can find a listing of decent vinyl stores in the backs of some of the dance mags. Pierre Von Mondragon
Or some sort of website/resource, try discogs.com. (no time to link just now)
Lemonade
I ended up giving all my dance vinyl away for free cos I couldn't get shot of them after I sold my decks. The Cavern don't take dance vinyl cos they struggle to sell it on. Cash Converters won't take it either. Ebay would be your best bet but it'll be time consuming as hell listing them all individually. If I were you I'd register on a nationwide dance music forum and advertise the whole lot there as a job lot, and list them all.
