Phase 4 of our ongoing programme of building work is scheduled to start on Thursday 21st August. This should be completed by mid September. From Thursday the 21st August until Thursday the 28th August there will be a temporary partition erected when our 3 booths/fixed seating are currently located.

This work is to upgrade our ancient soundproofing with new hi-tech stuff, which should hopefully take up a bit less space yet perform better. We're aiming for a 15-20 dB reduction all round. Also round about this time the roof will receive yet another upgrade.

There have not been any complaints regarding noise; we just want to strike preemptively and ensure that we are fully compliant with the European directive on noise emissions, whilst the timetable is under our control.

Phase 4b of the building work will take place a few weeks later when the frontage of the premises receives an upgrade that includes double and secondary toughened glazing, this is with view to make the frontage more attractive, and also to further reduce emissions from that area. We may also take that opportunity to recover the fixed seating at the front of the bar.

Phase 4c is to improve ventilation, as sound proofing is also the best insulation know to man. We do not have a definite date for this yet, but it will be prior to next summer.

Gigs will continue as usual, although this coming Saturday's gig may be slightly compromised due to the presence of the temp partition. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Does this mean the end of the bars on the windows?

In the interim we've replaced the temporary wall with something a lot more solid looking. It'll almost be a shame to tear that down and finish the job. Smartens the place up a bit though, and gives a more accurate impression of what the finished area will look like.

Can also confirm that the new seating layout is there to stay, but we're ordering new more comfortable seats.

We're not going to reinstate the wood linings, but will probably go for more artwork instead.
