Alan Cynic
I use a clarinet on one song, and tin whistles on a few. There's bits which sound (a bit) to me like a french horn, but it's a bowed bass gtr through effects.
Alan Cynic
That's an awkward one for me...hows about the Wednesday night?
Alan Cynic
Here's what John Cavanagh of Radio Scotland/Radio 6 says about 'Cornkisters' in a review......Alan Davidson's prolific loft recordings deliver a new album which is easy to recommend, as it augments the Kitchen Cynics catalogue with some new directions. His sound is bigger, with more complex arrangements, but not at the expense of the intimacy of his songs. The Elphin stane is a good example, with what sounds like an electric sitar doubled with piano over a rolling drone whilst the splendidly named Sphagnum hummocks - a wordless vocal piece - sounds like Gaelic psalm singing underwater! Oh - there's a nice version of Blackwaterside too. Delightful record with cover shots from A.D.'s sepia tinted family photo archive.
