// Movida Corona 2008 // Snafu // Wednesday 30th July // Doors 9PM - 2AM // Competition Begins 9.30PM

It's that time of year again when Corona are looking for the next big thing in DJ land. This year's Aberdeen heat of the Movida Corona World DJ Tournament takes place at Snafu (1 Union Street) on Wednesday 30th July.

The aim of the competition is to give talented DJs the chance to perform and show off their mixing techinques and skills with the chance of winning prizes and the opportunity to get on the ladder of an increasingly difficult industry. The competition will be judged by - Sara Lamb (Corona), Mo (Snafu) and Martin Jay (Good Foot / Mom...The Video Broke / Ninety Nine / Estaminet).

The winning DJ from the Aberdeen heat will receive a cheque for 100 on the night and qualify for the Scottish Semi-Final which takes place in Edinburgh in September. Following this, 8 DJs will compete for 4 places in the Scottish final (October - Glasgow) with a chance of winning a money prize and entry to the World Final which takes place in Austria during November.

Previous winners have secured residencies at Snafu, so we'll be keeping an eye on this one too!

Good luck folks.

We have been assured that djing via turntable-interactive programs such as Serato is fine, however djing using a laptop solely is out of the question.

I'm using Traktor with faderfox controllers (without control cds or vinyl). Is that allowed?

Cheers Gomes - yeh I was pretty pleased :D (understatement!)
