It's not big or clever, it's a laugh. It's something to enjoy with your mates. Just like beer." - DJ Cutlass SupremeAs a DJ, producer, remixer and co-founder of WIDE Records, DJ Cutlass Supreme has taken his unique mix of UK Bass, Ghetto Tech, Breaks and Jungle to clubs, festivals and radio shows across Europe. In 2008 Cutlass has been busy working on new material, remixes for Unique 3 and DJ Slugo, a follow up to his acclaimed DJ Cutlass Supreme Presents UK Bass and a DJ mix for Balkan Records. All this whilst uncovering new talent for the WIDE Records roster and planning a busy release schedule for 2008 and beyond.Originally starting out as a Drum & Bass DJ in the mid 90's, Cutlass Supreme discovered the US sound of Ghetto Tech after a chance meeting with Detroit's DJ Godfather in 2001. Hosting the now infamous WIDE club nights in London, Cutlass invited the likes of Godfather, Disco D, DJ Assault and Keith Tucker to play at events that were described as everything from a club which injects a bit of fun back into dancefloors, making people shake their butts to seriously dirty music to mental, frankly. The release of his acclaimed UK Bass mix CD on Novamute in 2003 was followed by appearances on BBC Radio 1's Breezeblock and gigs and festivals across Europe. The UK dance press were quick to catch the virus too with Cutlass described as one of the most refreshingly inventive jocks weve heard in a long time and his rapid-fire mixing style as like the Plump DJs only more funky and infinitely more dirty. Hes been written about in magazines including Mixmag, DJ, XLR8R, Knowledge and RWD.Interest in UK Bass has never been greater, with the arrival of Dubstep and Bassline adding more low-end energy to his mixes. The recording of his 2007 performance at Bloc has been his most requested mix to date with thousands of downloads. A follow up 2008 mix for B.A.S.S Radio is now available for free at DJ Cutlass Supreme. As a DJ, he continues to expand the possibilities of his live performances by integrating Ableton Live and Torq via laptop to enable him to mix on the fly between vinyl, CD and WAV and incorporate outboard gear for live remixing and improvisation.
