lovers_spit
HeyIm in a band and we're struggling to get gigs locally. My old band used to get them with ease fairly early on, Im just looking for maybe tips and advice on how to win promoters or venues over.Just getting a bit frustrated playing rarely to be honest.Maybe the best advice is to turn hardcore?Or maybe to just not be shit?I dunnoCraig

The two threads you posted about your band on here were cringeworthy.Contact some promoters on myspace yourself, or the venues. I'd suggest the Tunnels or Drummonds and ask for support slots. Guest Jake Wifebeater
Christ, it isn't rocket science. If I can get a gig, anyone can.But it does indeed help if you're not shit.
davewarden
Put it on yourself, get some mates bands to help out as well.
Stichman
What sort of stuff do you chaps play? I could probably hook you up with a support slot if you fulfil the criteria of being both a suitable genre and not being better than us
Old Gold
What kind of sound have you got?Despite the hype of myspace, cd demos have always been the best way of acquiring new gigs for me.
scottyboy
pfft being shit didn't seem to hinder some of the bands I've seen
lovers_spit
Erm. Early biffy/idlewild style stuff. Modern Rock. our myspace doesnt do us justice but we're hitting the studio next month We're supporting Tempercalm as well, so chuffed with that.Yeah if you could put us on that'd be great. Things are improving slightly gig wise now but theyre still relatively few and far between.
davewarden
Dont concentrate solely on Aberdeen, once you get a demo sorted whore yourselves to fuck (without annoying the tits off perspective promoters) and play anywhere you can.Avoid pay 2 play like the plague, there is only ever one winner and its never the bands
