Jeanette
The Black Swan. Plain creepy but very powerful!
Bigsby
Hardly surprising, the country is degenerating back to the state it was in during the 70's so why not return back to the days of the BBFC controlling what adults can choose to see?BBFC is one thing, this was police confiscating copies of a film that had already been certified by the BBFC. Ouch.
Brymon
Watch Green Buthers a couple of days ago, A Danish movie about a butcher shop selling deed folk. A bit like "Delicatessan" but really funny. It's more a comedy than a horror. I really enjoyed it. If you can read a movie then i definetly recommend it!Oh it also has that boy Mads Mikkelsen, the baddie from Casino Royale or Tony from Pusher if you watched them movies!! Scorge
Scary stuff.Single complaint sparks police raid and total ban on rental movie The RegisterWhat an absolute fucking plonker.I've just been given a copy of said film, verdict to follow..... Bigsby
The Weather Man - Watched this on the iPlayer one night knowing little about it and thought it was great. Black comedy with Nicolas cage. A reminder that when Cage is cast in a suitable role in a quality film, he is one of the very best actors in the world. He was outstanding in this. I really like Michael Caine, but he can't do an American accent.Jack Goes Boating - Directorial debut of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Comedy drama, although not really very funny or dramatic. Disappointing. The Town - Crime thriller directed by and starring Ben Affleck. Brilliant, up there with Heat which it echoes a fair bit. Best film I've seen in a while. Paranoid Android
Let the right one in tells the story of a bullied 12-year-old boy who develops a friendship with a vampire child in Blackeberg' date=' a suburb of Stockholm, in the early 1980s[/quote']It would be understandable to be put off by anything mentioning vampires these days, especially school aged vampires and friends, but you shouldn't be. This film is absolutely superb, the best I've seen in some time. The acting of the two 11 year old children who play the main characters is incredible. The focus on the film really is the relationship between these two character and so rarely feels like a fantasy / horror film. I'd give a big fat 10/10 Highly recommended.Anyone seen it? delboy
Grown Ups - shit American 'comedy' with Adam Sandler, one funny moment and that was in the first 10 mins! 2/10Crossing Over Thought provoking drama dealing with immigration issues between the US/Mexico border. Not mind blowing but more than watchable. Five stories all interweaving with one another. Good performances from Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta 7/
KarmaTsunami
The King's Speech. This was really rather brilliant. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were both excellent, the cinematography was wonderful and the whole thing was shot wonderfully. I just want to keep spewing more hyperbole. It felt a tad on the long side, but that's about the only bad thing I can say about it. Excellent. It's going to win Oscars.
Paranoid Android
Blue Valentine - Good film, not great. However the performances of both Gosling and Williams are excellent. It pulls off the indie relationship flick thing very well without going to far and becoming another Garden State or 500 days of Summer. 7/
Paranoid Android
The Kids Are Alright - It was ok. Nice enough. I kind of went off it was the film went on. IN particular the last 20 mins lost me. I do always enjoy watching both Julianne Moore and Mark Ruffalo. 6.5/
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Black SwanI wasn't really sure what to expect, but it was a genuinely brilliant film. Intense the whole way through, I think that I missed out on a lot of the subtlety of the movie. I'd definitely like to see it again. The ballet set piece at the end of the film is pretty spectacular. Norseman
I saw Black Swan on Saturday when I was in London and I was really impressed with it. Didn't have a heads up on the story line other than it was ballet based but really scored with me on the darkness of it and fantastic performances from all the cast. Will mess with a lot of peoples heads!
Diesel
The weekend viewing was..The PrestigeEntertaining and well acted but ultimately ludicrous movie. Christopher Nolan seems to be cornering the market for these. 6/10FShite, pointless and suspense-free Brit slasher movie. Decent cast wasted. 1/10Dog PoundAmerican remake of the old 70's Ray Winstone movie Scum, which was set in a Borstal. Watcheable. 6/

According to my sister this film isn't. Still have to watch it, then read the book, then watch the American one.

The two young leads are sensational. Fully deserving of it's 10/10 rating!

Apparently the author of the novel is very happy with both versions of the film. I haven't read the book but I think for the film they made the right choice focussing mostly on the relationship between the two kids. Le Stu
that's amazing.probably a redux of the entire film's strong points though. Still, Bollywood does it better than Michael Bay. Maybe there's a song and dance section in there somewhere, that's the sort of irrelevant padding I could actually deal with.
Paranoid Android
Yeah I don't really feel the need to see any more of it. But I do love the 10 year old style of it.And then this happens and then this and then you think it's all over but then.... THIS happens andit's all goes crazy again..........repeat repeat repeat

Scorge
Good or bad?Or I should perhaps rephrase - worth seeing or not worth seeing?Put it this way, I don't want to see it again. It is very vicious, I felt it leaned more towards shock/expliotation trash than it did to having any merit as a film (however you may think differently if you saw it). It's not as bad as Salo IMO, but it's close.
