Hardly surprising, the country is degenerating back to the state it was in during the 70's so why not return back to the days of the BBFC controlling what adults can choose to see?

BBFC is one thing, this was police confiscating copies of a film that had already been certified by the BBFC. Ouch.

Watch Green Buthers a couple of days ago, A Danish movie about a butcher shop selling deed folk. A bit like "Delicatessan" but really funny. It's more a comedy than a horror. I really enjoyed it. If you can read a movie then i definetly recommend it!

Oh it also has that boy Mads Mikkelsen, the baddie from Casino Royale or Tony from Pusher if you watched them movies!!

The Weather Man - Watched this on the iPlayer one night knowing little about it and thought it was great. Black comedy with Nicolas cage. A reminder that when Cage is cast in a suitable role in a quality film, he is one of the very best actors in the world. He was outstanding in this. I really like Michael Caine, but he can't do an American accent.

Jack Goes Boating - Directorial debut of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Comedy drama, although not really very funny or dramatic. Disappointing.

The Town - Crime thriller directed by and starring Ben Affleck. Brilliant, up there with Heat which it echoes a fair bit. Best film I've seen in a while.

Let the right one in

tells the story of a bullied 12-year-old boy who develops a friendship with a vampire child in Blackeberg' date=' a suburb of Stockholm, in the early 1980s

[/quote']

It would be understandable to be put off by anything mentioning vampires these days, especially school aged vampires and friends, but you shouldn't be. This film is absolutely superb, the best I've seen in some time. The acting of the two 11 year old children who play the main characters is incredible. The focus on the film really is the relationship between these two character and so rarely feels like a fantasy / horror film.

I'd give a big fat 10/10 Highly recommended.

Anyone seen it?

Yeah, great film. I haven't got round to seeing the English version remake with the girl from Kickass and the boy from The Road yet.

Grown Ups - shit American 'comedy' with Adam Sandler, one funny moment and that was in the first 10 mins! 2/10

Crossing Over Thought provoking drama dealing with immigration issues between the US/Mexico border. Not mind blowing but more than watchable. Five stories all interweaving with one another. Good performances from Harrison Ford and Ray Liotta 7/10

The King's Speech.

This was really rather brilliant. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were both excellent, the cinematography was wonderful and the whole thing was shot wonderfully. I just want to keep spewing more hyperbole. It felt a tad on the long side, but that's about the only bad thing I can say about it. Excellent. It's going to win Oscars.

The weekend viewing was..

The Prestige

Entertaining and well acted but ultimately ludicrous movie. Christopher Nolan seems to be cornering the market for these. 6/10

F

Shite, pointless and suspense-free Brit slasher movie. Decent cast wasted. 1/10

Dog Pound

American remake of the old 70's Ray Winstone movie Scum, which was set in a Borstal. Watcheable. 6/10

GF read the book and from what I've heard it's a little different. The book is heavy on the pedophile side. According to my sister this film isn't. Still have to watch it, then read the book, then watch the American one.

Yeah I've heard that. Apparently the author of the novel is very happy with both versions of the film. I haven't read the book but I think for the film they made the right choice focussing mostly on the relationship between the two kids.

Good or bad?

Or I should perhaps rephrase - worth seeing or not worth seeing?

Put it this way, I don't want to see it again. It is very vicious, I felt it leaned more towards shock/expliotation trash than it did to having any merit as a film (however you may think differently if you saw it).

It's not as bad as Salo IMO, but it's close.
