Lemonade
Get Him To The Greek - I like Judd Apatow, I like Jonah Hill, I like Russell Brand and I liked "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" so I was quite looking forward to this film. Sadly it didn't quite live up to expectations. Being a comedy film of this type, it's ram-packed with jokes, the ones that work are really really funny, the ones that don't just kinda fall flat, they try too hard to explain the jokes, and there are long periods without any laughter. The delivery wasn't quite there, and they've spoiled Russell Brand's character by taking him from the 2 dimensional preening rock star of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and trying to flesh him out to be a real person with feelings and family issues, which just doesn't work. It straddles the line between comedy and sentiment and it falls on the wrong side too often. On the whole I would recommend it because the funny bits are genuinely really funny (P. Diddy steals the show), but don't expect your sides to be splitting. Though it's worth the 7 just to see Russell Brand shouting "Why don't you fuck off and sue Napster you little Danish twat?" at Lars Ulrich.***

Diesel
Aye watched it a few years ago. Great subject matter and De Palma is normally ace but this was poor.Very true. The two leads (Hartnett and Eckhart) were dreadful. Like you say, great subject matter, but poorly executed. Paulscoconutass
Watched Micmacs last night. Absolutely engrossing French film from the director of Amile, Delicatessen etc. Puts his stamp all over it but it's a great-looking film with a nice wee story. Would recommend it to anyone. 9/
Monster Zero
Margot at the WeddingQuite a strange low-key comedy starring Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jack Black. One of those films that just kind of ends with no real feeling that the plot such as it was was tied up. I kind of liked it, pretty funny, the Mrs didn't like it or at least didn't see the point of it, it did make her laugh a bit though.8/10Fantastic Four/Rise of the Silver SurferBoth films for 5 in Sainsburys. I had seen them before but couldn't recall much about the first and just remembered being disappointed at the second because all the Silver Surfer action turned out to be in the trailer. Not great but not too bad, watchable. Galactus isn't a fucking cloud though.6/10 and 5/10Blue VelvetHaving a bit of a David Lynch backtrack just now. This is still a great film but Dennis Hopper's performance to me now seems only intermittently great, a few occasions just felt like overuse of the word 'fuck', but I can still overlook that for the times he just looks genuinely unhinged.9/10Solomon KaneNasty pillager Solomon Kane almost gets taken to Hell but manages to escape, then lives a life of peace until forced to go back to his killing ways to rescue a young girl whose family took him in their care. James Purefoy plays Kane, I always used to get him mixed up with Hugh Jackman. It's OK if you like swords and shit, not the worst i've seen.5/
Alan Cynic
Haven't seen Blue Velvet for years! Must fix that.I watched 'A matter of life and death' for the umpteenth time on the box yesterday. Roger Livesey is great!!
Soda Jerk
Get Him to the Greek looks alright, except for my blind hatred of Russell Brand, so I probably won't ever see it. He's a shite.

He's a shite.I find he can be intermittently amusing on game shows and the like but this film just seems like it is a horrible idea, like when they decided Joey in Friends was a character worthy of his own show. Huh? Probably the worst actor out of them all in his own show? Mentalists...
Jeanette
Saw Killers last night. Absolutely awful! Just awful. Also saw Eclipse today. Lived up to expectations... fight scenes were good except the whole film was a wee bit too long and the change of actress for the character Victoria kinda ruined it a wee bit. Roll on installments 4 and 5!!
Mr Owl PhD
I saw Skeletons last night, which was quite enjoyable. A strange and slightly disorienting film but intriguing and even rather heart-warming.
Scorge
Saw Predators earlier on. Pretty standard leave-your-brains-at-the-door-action-movie affair, but it is very slllllooooooooow for the first half hour or so until the shit (and guts) starts hitting the fan. Better than the AVP movies, but that's about it....
diarmaid
Watched the Werner Herzog movie 'Aguirre The Wrath of God' tonight. Bigsby
National Lampoon's Animal House. One of my favourite films, but I haven't seen it in a long, long time, probably 15 years or so. Still knew all the lines though and it's still great.
Jeanette
4 And 5! your fucking joking? i was surprised when i heard about a third one! i saw the first one and wasn't completely put off by it, but the whole culture really annoys me, the "team Jacob" and "team Edward" bags and shit, ok it's clearly got a good story to it, but get a grip, it's not breaking the mould or anything. It's just a fad. like anything no smoke without fire, but like a lot of things as well, they get blown out of proportion and twilight is one of them. I don't understand why it's so popular? There is all the rubbish about "teen "werewolves now as well, it's just another "emo" fad. /rant.Well, I'm a Team Edward girl... Haha.Don't pay any attention to it if it annoys you so much! It's quite easy to ignore. The 4th book is being made into two films because it's considerably longer the the other 3 books. It's obviously a moneymaking ploy. Larsen B
Watched the Werner Herzog movie 'Aguirre The Wrath of God' tonight. Spaniard leads a bunch of others to find El Dorado and decends into madness.I'm really not sure what to make of it to be honest.Haha I watched it last night, what a bizarre coincidence. I'd say it didn't give a great deal of moral insight or anything within the historical context, but rather it was all about the egomaniac, the lust for power against mankind and nature. So basically it was all about Klaus Kinski, but what a performance. It's the way seethes in the background I love.8/

The fact there was two very annoying young what seemed like 12 year old boys spoiling it for me by the noise the were making with munching, ruslting, talking, mobile phones and very immatur laughter when boobies appeared on the screen, then proceded to leave 10mins before the end of the film which I presume was to get the bus home so to be in on time.Last night......Pizza Hut..... thenShrek: Forever Afterreally good! ...... I won't embarass myself adding it to my DVD's for sale list.I bought it for The Rock and Sarah Michelle Gellar playing a porn star. I had absolutely no idea what the fucking hell was going on by about 30 minutes into the film. One of the few movies I've switched off before the end.
