Lemonade
Before I write this, please bear in mind that I have never read an X-Men comic or watched an X-Men cartoon, my only knowledge of X-Men is through these movies. So if accidentally trash someone's favourite character, or say something that contradicts the story arc or something, don't pull me up on it!I watched X-Men 3. Really enjoyed it, though it had a weird feel about it. It kind of gave the impression that they run out of ideas with the script so instead they just flooded the film with hundreds and hundreds of mutants - because of this most of the characters get so little screen time they don't really get the chance to show what they can do and there's absolutely no character development. They basically introduce them and then they do nothing until the big fight at the end! Juggernaut, Kitty Pryde, The Beast, Archangel, Collosus, the guy that can duplicate himself, the guy with the quills et all may as well have not even been there. Still it was pretty good and kept me both interested for the whole film, and on the edge of my seat for much of it, which is hard cos I have literally no attention span, and usually get bored and start texting / web browsing on my phone etc after about 20 minutes.LOADS of shocks, what with Cyclops, Xavier and Jean Grey all getting snuffed, and Magneto, Mystique and Rogue gettng 'cured'. Kinda ruined the chances of another sequel!Halle Berry is a terrible actress. She just has no screen presence at all. Storm was obviously meant to be a main character in this film and she came across as more of an afterthought. Awful For the film:***
Afro Droid
I watched X-Men 3. Really enjoyed it, though it had a weird feel about it. Juggernaut, Kitty Pryde, The Beast, Archangel, Collosus, the guy that can duplicate himself, the guy with the quills et all may as well have not even been there. X-Men 3 is a weird one I think, I really disliked it when I first saw it, but it's kinda grown on me with repeated viewings (it aseems to be on Channel 4 every fortnight at the moment). Totally agree with your point about too many new characters - Wolverine Origins suffered even worse from the same problem - Angel in particular is absolutely pointless. The story is an amalgamation of Joss Whedon's 'cure' story from his run on the Astonishing X-Men comic and Chris Claremont's classic Pheonix Saga run. Inevitabley they've changed a lot for the movie (my main bug-bear is the fact that Jean gets killed by Cyclops in the book, not Wolvie); but movies are different from comics blah blah blah...I think Bret Ratner is a really workman-like, uninspiring director, the third movie would have been better with Bryan Singer at the helm. Roll on Kenneth Branagh's Thor movie...
Monster Zero
Halle Berry is a terrible actress. Phenomenal norks though. She is actually not a bad actress in my opinion but she didn't really get much chance to shine in any of the X Men films. And actually has probably one of the worst lines ever in the first one - 'Do you know what happens to a toad when it's struck by lightning? Same as anything else'. (Or something like that...)Anti-climax or what? I was hoping for some bizarre chemical reaction causing all it's limbs to fly off like a Maskatron doll from the 70's.... Terrific performance from Dustin Hoffman and also from John Voigt. There was a real bond developed between the two characters and it was quite touching in places. Loved this film, tho some of the 60s camera shots etc are starting too look a bit dated. Hated the ending as well, tho mostly just cos it made me sad and I wanted the characters to have a happy ending. I guess kudos to the filmmakers for making the characters so good i actually care about them.****

My radio alarm was going off as i was snoozing and they were on Radio 1 i think. Their voices got incorporated into my dream somehow. The cunt nicked all my trainers and threw them in a field cos i kept leaving them outside my door in the stairwell in my flat.

kirsten
Christ on a bike, this Cineworld card doesn't half prompt me to see a load of cack I'd never see if I had to pay 7 for it.Tonight's was 'Surrogate' or 'Surrogates', I've no idea. I didn't know anything about it before seeing it, except that it had Bruce Willis in it. In conclusion, lots of clunky dialogue and a plot that was like a shit Matrix. Monster Zero
3000 Miles to Graceland ~ Quite an old movie that I've always meant to see and that I picked up for 2 quid in Asda. Stars Kevin Costner (no wait, come back!) and Kurt Russell along with Courtney Cox looking rather good and playing a role miles from Monica Friends. Actually quite a good film and the best I've seen Kevin Costner in for an age. Costner plays a nutjob ex-jailbird who claims to be an illegitimate son of Elvis, Kurt Russell plays his ex-jail mate and they meet up for a casino heist in Las Vegas during an Elvis convention, hence the heist being pulled off by Kevin and Kurt along with David Arquette and Christian Slater in full Elvis garb. Remainder of the film is about the predictably messy aftermath, double-crosses ahoy, etc. I suppose in many ways it's quite formulaic but I thought it was well done and the actors involved do a good job. It's also pretty violent. Certainly worth 2 pounds. 8/10.
