i watched "one day removals"

its a comedy film set in Aberdeen and around Aberdeenshire and tells the sorrowful tale of two inept removal men, Andy and Ronnie. They work for Andy Removals and bump into a fellow Aberdonian. Then the screaming begins which will have the audience rolling with laughter as the removal loons face an unusual delivery of death, destruction and an unpaid bill by Mrs Thelma Patterson on the 14 May for her husband and his use of the Andy Removals van.

loved it! especially when the went to tillydrone and met Uls

shouting "I've just bought a dog!" as an excuse to run away from andy and ronnie when they asked him for help.

many of you will know patrice the hairdresser the boy who plays him is one of the main boys in this film, andy!

heres a trailer YouTube - One Day Removals- Clip 2

word

Someone was telling me they watched this the other day, my friend Nicky did the music fo it, so even more reason to watch it ;) might order it today

I watched role models, pretty funny, funnier than I would have imagined from the clips, worth a watch.

Also watched Zack & Miri make a porno, again pretty funny, with a weirdness around it, not your average chick filck!

Just watched The Dark Knight for the first time.

Pretty good.

Yep, finally got round to watching it myself.

T'was OK.

Heath Ledger was very good as the Joker, but hardly worthy of all the gushing and salivating that went on - some of it on these very pages.

Over the piece though - and whilst the script and acting were of very high quality - the story meandered and just didn't grip me - and it seemed to go on forever.

Infinitely superior to all the films that followed the first Michael Keaton outing, but personally, I much preferred Batman Begins.

I'm currently trying to watch Cloverfield but this party scene feels like it's been going on for days and I'm finding it really hard to care.

/back to trying to persevere with this film.

It's an acquired taste, but stick with it. If you can get used to the haphazard camera work it's a pretty thrilling movie.

The monster is superb!

As far as i know "One Day Removals" is out of stock at the suppliers as they are trying to negotiate a distro deal and are reluctant to do a run just now. We, Bruce Millers, still have a few copies at 9.99 though if you're interested.

Ok yeah, once they finished the uber dull party scene it was a lot better. I enjoyed most of it however some things annoyed me like when the camera guy got eaten after the crash.

How the fuck do you not see a giant monster less than 10 feet in front of you. Really?? How!!

Also in the end I was left unsatisfied with the ending, I know it was made like that so you concentrate on the survivors (however dull and fake they seem). But In the end I found myself just wanting to know more about the monsters and also what happened to NY.

Spectacle - 8/10

As an entertainment film - 4/10

No Country For Old Men - it was OK but not as good as I was expecting. I thought the story was really good, but it was unbelievably slow. I was bored and looking at the clock, which is unusual for a Cohen brothers film. The ending sucked. Thumbs - middle

Waitress - visually beautiful, but the weirdly robotic 2 dimensional characters made it difficult to care about any of them. Not bad acting, just odd directing. It's strange that the only characters you can feel any connection with are baddies - the curmudgeonly old man, and the abusive husband - as they're the only ones who show any emotion. Hmmm. Thumbs - middle

Heathers - Not as good as I remember but still pretty ace. Suspend your disbelief before watching! Christian Slater is achingly cool. Thumbs - up.

Once - beautiful film, very charming, great music. Thumbs - up.

Bedtime Stories - a bit of a kids movie, but it was pretty enjoyable. Sandler was on form, but Russell Brand didn't really get the chance to shine. The story telling was excellent right up until the end, the ending just seemed really rushed, like a bit of an afterthought, which spoiled it. Thumbs - up.

Saboteur - an old black and white Hitchcock movie. I bought the 14 disc set from Zavvi and I'm going through them chronologically. This was a beauty, I really enjoyed it. This guy gets wrongly accused of playing up an air force base and is arrested, but escapes and has to cross the USA from LA to New York to clear his name, all as a fugitive trying avoid the law. It's thrilling to watch, lots of suspense, but then once he gets to NY he infiltrates a gang of high society saboteurs plotting to blow up a navy ship at it's big launch, and it loses the plot a little bit and becomes a bit of a cluster. It was the desolation of seeing him cross country, desert, mountains, ghost towns by himself (well, with his love interest of course) that I enjoyed, and when he was in NYC surrounded by thousands of people it kinda spoiled the balance. Still a great watch and a good ending. Thumbs - up.

Watched The Wrestler last night. What a film!

Mickey Rourke should definitely get an Oscar and if it wasn't for Danny Boyle, so should Darren Aronofsky.

Even Marisa Tomei is amazing in it. Can't recommend this film enough.

Anyone else seen it?

I saw it in Toronto last year at the film festival.

I really enjoyed it.

Will definately go see it again at the cinema here.

I thought it was pretty good. Didn't over do it with the sacharine and still left room for gervais to ham it up, if only in a slightly diluted way. Definitely had its moments.

I thought it did get a bit sappy towards the end. And the main problem with Gervais was that he just wasn't all that funny.

Just about every scene looked like he had ignored the (probably pretty good) script and improvised "funnier" stuff, which the director didn't have the guts to edit out.

At the weekend I watched:

and soon the darkness -

It'll put you off cycling through rural France. Classic 'who done it' style movie. Two girls go on a cycling holiday, one goes missing and the other is trying to find her, but is struggling to figure out who she can trust (especially with the language barrier). Speaking French very well might ruin the film (because they don't subtitle the French bits on purpose) but speaking a little will give you a teaser of who she should/shouldn't trust.

Was one the girls not Michelle "Ooh Betty" Dotrice from "Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em"?

Passengers - Weird movie about a plane crash/cover up with lurky mysterious goings on like surviving passengers going missing and people being followed...I got a slight bit confused and really didn't know where this was going and then big twists and weird ending, enjoyable twisty tale :D

I watched Yes Man the other day, not the kind of thing I'd normally go see but I was bored and I get in for free because I work in the cinema.

I was pleasantly surprised, it was a fairly formulaic Rom-Com brought up by a brilliant performance from Zooey Deschanel who was playing one of the most belivable female leads in a major Hollywood comedy as I think I've seen in years and she's in a band with M.Ward. Incidentaly, her fictional band in the film Munchausen By Proxy are fucking awesome.
