Ah, the people responsible for signing the Stereophonics AND Snow Patrol, is there going to be an ENT expert on hand to advise them on how to live with Tone Deafness, seriously, society could take its revenge for the wave of blandness unleashed by these 'dudes'.

Ehm I mean, good luck with the event Dave.

Do they work for EMI Terra Firma Do Me A Favour Suits Do The Talent-Spotting Now Ltd?

"Franz Ferdinands show at SxSW in Texas before anybody had ever heard of them"

Excluding the people at Domino who had signed them and the people who had bought their single which gave them a chart placing previous to SXSW, presumably? The people who saw them on their other US dates around SXSW, too...

Just perhaps I was talking about Joe Public here?

I remember a music seminar a few years ago in the Belmont Cinema. It was an interview with the guy who discovered Oasis. Some interesting information sourced from that event. The best part was when the guy who discovered Oasis had some verbal exchanges with the A&R guy from Warner Brothers Records the over treatment of bands after signing a record deal. It was quite exciting hearing two men of professional stature picking at each other with sly digs. Much fun. See y'all there.

Foyer Music was involved in that one as well as it was a Go North event. Was it not Rik Smernicki who he had a go at then?

Isn't it Rik that always gets the brunt of it at these things. Serves him right for signing Snow Patrol I suppose.

Won't be along this time but I've been to a fair few of these in years gone by and they're always interesting. If you haven't been before and want to know a little more about how things work further up the chain then (even if it's just so you know who to avoid) you should go along.

Ronnie Gurr is the the Cultural Enterprise Office specialist music adviser. There is a root to him through me if need be. He is based in Glasgow but a phone assist can be arranged if there is something that can't be answered or guided through by myself in working hours.

>> - Cultural Enterprise Office Home Page - <<

There to help and free.

There, that's my marketing covered. I will be otherwise engaged so won't be there flag waving or asking deep and meaningful questions.

o_OJust realised the deliberate mistake in that post! :)

That's my home postcaode not the Foyer's one! Oops, sorry! Wonder if anybody ever reads the postcaode anyway? It's only useful if you are driving and use the web for direction. Just in case anybody does the right postcode is AB11 6JF

I may be struggling to make it at 3pm so is it impossible to arrive a bit later?
"Impossible" No, you are welcome to arrive late, hopefully one of the team will be at the front desk, but if not just come on in and it's straight up the stairs in front of the door. See you there.

Many thanks to the few people who did make it down. I hope you all got something out of it. The 'panel' seemed happy with the event so I would be happy to run it again with some different speakers. I realize that as Ronnie's talk on major deal finance took up so much time others like Rik didn't get enough time, but it seemed good, so here's hoping!
