SWORDMASTER

SWORDMASTER on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

"We are an instrumental rock band, who enjoy playing our rock music at an appropriately high volume. Be inspired," say the Iron Maiden, Racer X, Winger, Whitesnake and Paul Gilbert inspired heroic metallers. They're all about thunderous drums, galloping bass, tonnes of guitarmonies, crisp shredding solos, white trainers and more than a pinch of flamboyance. And who would have thought that instrumental metal could have a sense of humour?

ELEMENT 106

Element 106 on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

"We are a five piece metal band from Aberdeen. The music speaks for us," say the band named after the heaviest metal in the periodic table. Now THAT'S metal. They sound like Fear Factory, Slayer, Strapping Young Lad, Paradise Lost, Dimmu Borgir, etc..

I hardly think they need any introduction on these forums though, do they?

INNER RAGE

INNER RAGE on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Drawing influence and inspiration from genres as diverse as metal, rock, jazz and classical music and then transforming it into a unique hybrid of the lot - Inner Rage is experimental, extreme, epic, death metal. The band was formed a decade ago in San Paulo, Brazil, but have since relocated to London.

"This is more than heavy, this is quantum physics, and for a while you could be convinced that Inner Rgae make the only true music." - Rock Sound magazine

"Dirty, dischordant and raw, tech-death dealers Inner Rage take a proud legacy of brutality and fuck with it in the most ingenious fashion possible, creating a monsterous jazz/death masterpiece akin to being beaten up by Louis Armstrong's ghost." - Terroizer magazine

EMPYREA

Empyrea on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Empyrea play Omni Metal. For all I know, they may be the first. They're a six piece technical melodic death metal band with their own unique flair.

Eric Euan write alternative rock music of depth and substance. Instantly infectious songs driven by a powerful rhythm section. An established live act, they've have had the privilege of playing alongside noted bands such as, The Stranglers, The Delgados, De Rosa, Stapleton, Kerbdog, Deckard, Dawn of the Replicants, Mercury Tilt Switch, Alamos, El Presidente, Infadels and Macrocosmica

FALLING RED

Moorings Bar, you know you love it - loads of people have been playing Poison on the jukebox lately...

Check out 'If You Ain't Down With The Rock' on their myspace... breakdown and everything...

THEWS

Thews on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Thews is dudes from Laeto, Avast and Alamos - which is something of a pedigree, you'd have to agree. The Dundonians will be playing their first Aberdeen show, and there's four of them. More, we do not know.

TUPELO TOWN ASSEMBLY

Tupelo Town Assembly on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Three hellbound souls on the last train to rock n roll rythmn n groove oblivion. Taking the mainline through the Mississippi Delta and picking up the ferocity and groove of The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the fuzzed up frenzy of British & US Freakbeat & Psych, the laid back swagger of the Bad Seeds, the gutteral howl of the Cramps and the insistent drunken thump of Tom Waits on the way, Tupelo Town Assembly blaze a down and dirty blues soaked path not to be missed by any self respecting fan of this genre.

DOWNFALL

TORTURO NERVOSA

DEVICE (lockjaw)

KETIMINE DECO

A unique mix of Thrash, Blues and Rock n' Roll, Downfall will

get your head banging and your hearing tested. Think The

Sword meets Led Zep on a dark night then chunk in some

80s thrash riffery and growling vocals... you get the picture.

Since forming in Perth, Torturo Nervosa have set about

creating a collection of raging, angular and vital new songs

that fire the imagination and throw a beam of light on the

darker side of reality. Influenced by ground-breaking acts

like NoMeansNo, Shellac, Fugazi, Mclusky, and Biohazard

Device signed to Lockjaw Records last year and achieved

great reviews in Rocksound and Big Cheese magazines.

They also released their album throughout Europe, bagging

some more fantastic press coverage, especially from the

German rock mags. Huge sounding, powerful song packed

full of energy, pace and catchy vocal lines

If you prefer your rock with an indie slant, Ketimine Deco

have some bluesy melodic barnstormers for you, inspired

by Aerosmith, Dream Theatre, Whitesnake and, err, Runrig.

NB: Torturo Nervosa contain a member of the utterly magnificant Dr. Drakes regulars Venetian Love Triangle, and were proud to sell 31 CDs last time they played (with Pearl Jammin and Avoid The Morning last October). 31 CDs is rather good for an unsigned band from Perth playing in Aberdeen for the first time, so they must be doing something right...

They'll be onstage about 10.30pm

GOLDBLADE + Bones Of Freedom (Sweden) + Escape To Victory

Saturday 11th April 2009, 8pm-1am.

Goldblade on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads

Goldblade - Goldblade

Still fighting the punk rock war, GOLDBLADE were formed in 1996 by ex-Membranes front man John Robb. Maintaining the swagger and sharp edge, Goldblade have incessantly toured the world on the back of their last album, 'Rebel Songs'; their best selling album yet.

In the last 12 months Goldblade have been tearing it up at huge festivals across the planet and on big punk tours. Their sweatshod adrenalised live show has built them a powerhouse reputation on the international punk rock circuit. In a blur of sharp threads, fierce quiffs and phat shoes, Goldblade have taken the maxim that rock 'n' roll is a physical thing to its Olympian limits. This is truly a revolution of everyday life! Punk rockers in the dancehall!

ZED MACHINE

dsc_0923.jpg

Indafusion: We come from Scotland and empty the animal

trough-water of modern music onto the ashes of our

broken hearts to allow our dejected cells to catch glimmers

of hope in song! We meet in corridors and cottages.

They sing of space and elephants, and weave songs from

tight harmonies and fuzzy pop guitars, and are simply bloody

brilliant live. Youll kick youself if you miss them. Honestly.

M.I.N.E. are a rock band. Who inconsideratley dont have

a wed presence. But theyre sorta proggy and theyve been

playing on and off for years. Catch them around 9.30pm.

Kicking off the night, Zed Machine make their Moorings

Bar debut playing their grungey-Pixies-or-Sugar-like rock,

with nods to QOTSA, Nirvana, The Melvins and Sonic Youth,

'Rebel Songs' was inspired by the ugly politic of our times. Songs were written on anti-Iraq war demos, missives from the frontline of mediaeval Britain; it's a re-affirmation of punk rock's political roots, a loud shout back at the vile corporate world, a celebration of the rebel song and a set of stirring rabble rousing anthems to dance and sing along to. Every song is an anthem. Proof that punk rock still has meaning in 2006. Lyrically it's a brilliant skewiff vision of the world, Captain Beefheart twisted surrealism mixes easily with northern humour and punk rock anger.

Goldblade have written a populist album that will sit in alongside both Green Day and Rancid, they have shared the stage with Buzzcocks and The Offspring amongst many others, they have been compared to The Clash and give a nod to Crass - it's got one brothel creeper firmly placed in the wild polemic of late seventies punk rock and the other in the punk rock of 2006.

Goldblade are equally at home playing in the stadiums of Russia, huge festivals in Europe and any venue in the world. "This is the people's music," they explain mysteriously. Their audience ranges from pre-teens to gnarled punk rock veterans, Goldblade's insane energy and punk rock celebration welcomes everyone. There are no boundaries.

Plus support from classic Swedish rockers Bones Of Freedom (hippie/hard rock/70s psychedelic) and local boys Escape To Victory (quad-vocal hardcore punk rock).

Sat 18 April - The Moorings - TYLA

176flyer.jpg

Dogs D'Amour's renown frontman Tyla is delighted to confirm a full length acoustic show at The Moorings Bar.

He's supported Johnny Thunders, and that makes him cooler than any of us. The Dogs mixed Rolling Stones and Faces style roots rock and Hanoi Rocks style glam punk, but his solo material is quite wistful/gothic/bluesy.

Tyla will also be bringing a selection of art (he paints), books (he writes) and music (he's a singer songwriter afterall) for your perusal.

TICKETS ARE ONSALE PRICED 5 NOW FROM THE BAR - ask the barstaff nicely for one.

Support from The Tijunana Switchblades and Cobra Kai. Woop woop.
