Which from a technical perspective would be a nightmare. They would be quicker to just block access to specific web sites and the use of specific protocols (e.g. Bittorrent). They would be quicker to just block access to specific web sites and the use of specific protocols (e.g. Bittorrent).Deep packet inspection isn't that difficult for ISP's, and most of them are already using it for traffic shaping. (BT for example throttle torrent traffic at peak hours and have done for months now) There is even one company out there that claims to be able to detect copyrighted material in packets by actually analysing the video/audio and working out which film or song it is... iirc it's being deployed at atleast one major american isp at some point this year.
