lepeep
I just got this on amazon for buttons...I'd forgotten how great it is!It's also interesting hearing all the riffs / parts that actually ended up on the pigface "gub" lp. it's the bassline to "murder inc" that turned into "tapeworm" that made me sit up...anyway, if' you've not heard murder inc, it's like ministry playing P.I.L songs, with edwin collins rapping on it (Sorry Chris Connelley!) (recorded by Albini to boot!)anyone got any recently dug up gems?
bifta23
Yeah really enjoyed Murder Inc at the timeKilling Joke roped Chris in to sing for them as Jaz went AWOL and then they ended up recording that and playing a few gigs. Think Gub was released before Murder Inc? Should get a hold of the Ministry compilation called Side Trax, collects all the offshoot 12s collected but well worth it for the Pailhead stuff with Ian MacKaye. Also recomend the first Damage Manual EP with Jah Wobble and co.
bifta23
Chris Connellys book is a hoot. Didnt realise how much of a junky he was. Some of the stories about Al are funny getting in shape for tour and seeing him on a rowing machine with a bottle of whisky puffing on a joint, having liposuction, fake stick-on dreads. Doubt he will be get an invitation to the farewell tour.Amazon.co.uk: Concrete, Bulletproof, Invisible and Fried: My Life as a Revolting Cock: Books: Chris Connelly
lepeep
I'd checked out Chris's site the other day, as my pal Poe gave me a copy of his solo stuff...again, like Edwin Colins singing bowie songs...some are awful, but some just seem to work in a very strange way.The Pailhead stuff is fantastic, I'd first heard "don't stand in line" from a compilation 7" that was shipped with the NME back in 1988 .... eee, when I were a lad.that along with a splendid version of "your fear" by Prong, "silver rocket" by Sonic Youth, "new pants and shirt" by Killdozer...infact...here's a blog about it (!? I love the internet!)The Runout Groove: MP3: Sounds Blasts EP3 - Cerebral Fix, Killdozer, Pussy GaloreSounds Blasts Ep2 Various UK 7 Inch at vinyltap.co.ukit's funny, after I posted this morning, a track came on that does indeed just sound like a scottish person singing over a killing joke track...
