TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Is it just me or do they just sound like Guided by Voices? Not like that is a bad thing, but I'm a bit bewildered as to why the music press are having such massive power wanks about them...
Guest idol_wild
They don't remind me of Guided By Voices at all really; and I'm a huge fan of both bands. Les Savy are a bit more technical and have a far greater "electro" feel to them. They work more on interplay rather than fuzzy chords, a la Guided By Voices.I think Les Savy Fav are one of the finest bands on the planet right now. The new record is terrific. So much rhythm. And they know exactly how to utilize a delay pedal.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I fear this is going to go down as well as my theory that Kings of Leon are Menswear in reverse...
Guest Steven Dedalus
Guided by Voices are far, far better than Les Savy fav, who are interesting enough, but don't really have an emotional core. They're a good wee band, like, but they are too clinical for my liking.GBV have the lot.Fer sure! Was it you that told me one of the writers of Father Ted was a huge GBV fan?
RF Scott
Guided By Voices sound nothing like Les Savy Fav.Les Savy Fav are good, but Guided By Voices win every time. Against most bands, really, given that Bee Thousand is one of my favourite albums.
Swingin' Ryan
I fear this is going to go down as well as my theory that Kings of Leon are Menswear in reverse...In a rather strange coincidence, I remember Kings of Leon being asked in 2004 who they thought should win the NME Godlike Genius award and Caleb said Guided By Voices. "My valuable Hunting Knife" is just awesome. And it was Graham Linehan who said in the Father Ted DVD commentary that he wanted GBV to cover "My Lovely Horse" as a soundcheck, cos they were the best band ever. And, if anyone cared, "Alien Lanes" was their best albumSo there you go, fact fans.

Guest Steven Dedalus
Bee ThousandDo you have the 33 and a 1/3 book about it? It's a great read, and has loads of interviews with Bob pollard in it, explaining his approach to music and stuff. I really enjoyed it.In fact, here's a handy wee review of it:Amazon.co.uk: "Guided by Voices" "Bee Thousand" (33 1/3): Books: Marc Woodworth

Alan Cynic
I used to be a big GBV fan (my old label-mates!), but kind of lost touxh after Bee Thousand. I just got 'Let's stay friends' by Les Savy Fav out of the library last weekend, and must say I'm enjoying it a lot, but don't think it sounds like GBV.
