Shaki
Don't you wish American businessmen would just fuck off and leave soccer alone? (.........or else invest heavily in the Dons ) They don't have a fucking clue. Not does Magnusson clearly. "Boost the Premier League's Global Profile?". What gash, it's fucking massive all over the world.....except in America where they make all their own sports up and don't, and never will, have an appetite for the beautiful game. The Ghost Of Fudge
ah yes. so it mentions. i should've read the link first.
RossP
I'm sure i remember reading that the Old Firm discussed proposals over playing a SPL game in the US.Silly idea. Moneygrabbers.
Jamie
Eggert Magnuson has always seemed like a prick to me, and this comment confirms it. anytime West Ham were getting beat last season he'd be seen in the stand acting like Commidus in "Gladiator" - squirming with disbelief and frustration that his plaything was getting beaten. Spoilt brat. How the fek did he make so much money out of Icelandic biscuits anyway?
Sam 45
It's the NY Giants versus the Miami Dolphins. Then the Anaheim Ducks are playing at the o2 arena, can't remember who against.
delboy
didnt celtic play chelsea in a pre season friendly in the US a couple of years ago? and they had the asia cup pre season featuring 3 premiership teams so dont see why they cant play some pre season stuff over there. Sam 45
Was it not Celtic who played a friendly in Japan or America inbetween 2 SPL games?
davewarden
This talk of the beautiful game is nonsense, its all about money no matter what how you look at it.Chairmen of top teams these days dont care bout history of the game, its all about getting folk through the turnstyles and getting big tv contracts.Of course seeing your beloved team play games competitive in America is not something you want but it will happen.I think that football is going the way of American sport pretty quickly outside the UK.If you look at spanish football especially, real madrid buying big name players as a franchise essentially is much like the US of AMy point may not be in there at this point in time, might be the booze but i will get there. RossP
Surprised no-one has mentioned the Washington Whips yet!!
Camie
There is no way it will happen. The clubs need their loyal fans behind them. If they went over to US nobody would be cheering for them and the atmosphere would just be shit. You've also got to remember that no one in america really cares about football. Hardly anyone turns up for MLS games considering the population of some of the cities.Never gonna happen.

Maybe if the American public saw the footballing elite playing competitive matches, their opinions might change. It's all a load of money grabbing bollocks though. Sam 45
If Man U and Chelsea played in the US, people would definately go. Some of the MLS crowds surrounding David Beckham were absolutely huge, with a really good atmosphere.
Christy
Surprised no-one has mentioned the Washington Whips yet!! Yeah but that seemed to all be a bit of harmless exhibitionism. A little different for a top-class fixture to be unceremoniously dumped in a different continent. Unless it's Man U - Arsenal, which has consistently produced entertaining fixtures (2005 FA Cup final excepted), the 'top-class' Premiership matches will be a boring turn-off to the action-seeking American public anyway.love from Christy
Captain America
I wouldn't mind the US getting some premiership matches as long as we got some more NFL games. The one at Wembley looked great.
Spoonie
the one at wembley was great! except the ran out of everything at the vendors and the americans do love their food!! it'd be nice to get another one over. they're talking about 8 over 4 years with wembley as a regular venue. would be nice to think they'd consider scotland since we sustained an am-fit team for considerably longer than london manged but they'l prob say it's too far out of the way.taking 'soccer' matches to the states isn't a bad shout. brings in money by the binload. also, think for the poor dolphins fans. they get 8 regular games a season at home and they lost one and didn't get recompensated for their massivel expensive season ticket prices!! /x

Camie
What's the point in supporting a team that buggers off to America to play their "home" games? You've also got to think of the player's fatigue as the big clubs play twice a week with Europe as well.
