Guest idol_wild
Following a conversation I had in the pub last night: what are your favourite pop songs? By 'pop' I mean a song that we ALL know. A song that charted very well and is universally accepted as popular music. My choices would be:Fleetwood Mac - "Seven Wonders"Eurythmics - "When Tomorrow Comes"Shakespeare Sister - "Stay"Take That - "Patience" (seriously)Annie Lennox - "Why" and "Love Song For A Vampire"

historicrocker
They Might Be Giants-Birdhouse In Your SoulI don't know if I'm that fond of that one. Just started listening to be honest but I love Istanbul (Not Constantinople) No, it's actually a great song! Mates of State are a lot like them. Huw
Also, 'Love Shack' by B-52sYes!Like some JT songs. Like I Love You, Cry Me A River That album's production (Justified - possibly THE worst album title of all time) is pretty cool - neptunes i think.Kelly Clarkson for some essentially pishy, but nonetheless uplifting ballads. Breakaway, Behind These Hazel Eyes...That Kate Nash 'Foundations' tune in irritatingly catchy and 'With You' by Avril Lavigne. After that little list (especially Avril) you are welcome to consider all future posts with regards to taste null and void. Oh and BelBivDevoe-Poison for having the coolest snare sound ever.
Roam
The David Bowie track from the Ziggy Stardust album. The track starts of"I'm an alligator, i'm a mama papa coming for you!"
historicrocker
It's actually called "You Can't Hurry Love". And it's by the Supremes. Is it! Well, that makes my music library quite in error. I love how the Concretes used to sing about Diana Ross and that got me listening to her. But the Supremes are the group she sings with so I suppose they'd sound quite similar.
historicrocker
The most irritating mistake by far is when people credit Alanis Morisette for Joan Osbourne's "One of Us".
Jamie
The most irritating mistake by far is when people credit Alanis Morisette for Joan Osbourne's "One of Us".Yeah, that really gets my goat that one. I could kill people who disrespect Joan Osbourne in that manner. Some of the Smiths singles possibly qualify for this - particularly Boy With The Thorn in His Side, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Panic, This Charming Man - most got decent chart positions and are easy to sing along to, whether "everyone" knows them I suppose is another matter.
