The Led Zeppelin reformation

Recommended Posts

Good thing. No new material, it's bound to be crap, give the punters what they want.

But "They a reforming for a concert"? Surely a full tour is in order?

I should say that I think they are hyped up too much, but there's no doubting they had a few great tunes.

LONDON -- One of the most eagerly awaited

concerts of the decade will

celebrate the life and work of Ahmet Ertegun,

founder of Atlantic Records

and much missed mentor to some of the greatest

names in music.

Profits from this amazing show will go to the

Ahmet Ertegun Education Fund

which provides students with annual scholarships

to universities in the UK,

USA and Turkey. In addition, a music scholarship

open to all will be

established at Ravensbourne College in the UK.

The incomparable Led Zeppelin will headline the

tribute to the man who

founded Atlantic Records in 1947. Robert Plant,

Jimmy Page and John Paul

Jones will be joined by Jason Bonham, the son of

their late drummer John

Bonham.

In addition, Pete Townshend, Bill Wyman and the

Rhythm Kings, Foreigner and

Paolo Nutini, all touched by Ertegun's guiding

hand over the years, will

play on the night. Paolo was the final British

artist that Ahmet mentored.

It will be a tribute from UK artists that Ertegun

worked with in a 60 year

career.

Tickets - 125

Due to the anticipated overwhelming demand for

this concert, tickets will

be available by ballot only.

Fans should register their names at

www.ahmettribute.com

At least it's a ballot, means everybody has as good a chance getting a ticket.

You could head to the bar while Foreigner (and Paolo) are on.

Although I think Foreigner are now "cool" after being in The Sopranos. Probably.

Led Zep absolutely suck dog dick. Wanky, screechy, self-indulgent, tight trousered nonsense. I thought punk wiped all this kind of shite out in the 70s? We have to endure it again?

Punk wiped NOTHING out. All the "Boring Old Farts" came back stronger. Apart from a handful of genuine bands, punk was a bigger pose than the scene it claimed to have "wiped out".

Like someone said earlier in the thread, if they can still cut it live.....

Can Plant still pull off the AAA-AAA-AAAAAA-AAAA bit in Immigrant Song I wonder. Im guessing no. Which alone makes this a poor idea.

when i saw the who at glastonbury, roger daltrey's voice is showing signs of age and it might be the same case with robert plant but i still think the zep will be worth checking out.

I love the Who and I've never seen them live, I best get in there before Roger and Pete die as well.

worth seeing they did a greatest hit set, some bands like the who and the stones seem to get away with it despite their advancing years and i think led zep are in that same category.

Send some money to a charity and go see 'Pie Shop' if you want to be entertained by overblown hairy, geetar music played by old men decades out of flavour. No disrespect to Pie Shop intended...

His solo stuff a couple of years ago seemed to pretty much consist of that alone, so I suppose he'll get away with it
