Six Organs of Admittance at the Lemon Tree on Monday!

Recommended Posts

some more information

Six Organs of Admittance is basically just one man (but what a man!) - Ben Chasny, along with whomever he ropes in for recording or for shows.* *And he's got a big pool of musicians to choose from: Ben also plays in Comets On Fire, tours in Bonnie Prince Billy's band, has collaborated with Current 93 and Magik Markers.... the list goes on. This man-band started in 1997 when Ben self- released his first LP in an edition of 400, little dreaming that one day Six Organs of Admittance would sell 37 times as many records. It was just something that was destined to happen - but that was the beginning of the happening.* Since then he's squeezed in a lot of heart-stoppingly good shows (anyone who saw him support Joanna Newsom at Glasgow's Grand Ole Opry can testify to that) as well as released a multitude of albums good enough to eat.* The much-abused singer-songwriter genre, where any fella with a guitar can call himself a deep and meaningful musician is put to shame by this singer songwriter who means something deep and has the brains and the balls and the tricks and the talent to be truly experimental as well.

"Six Organs most beautifully conceived and ambitiously extended work to date".* Wire magazine*on recent album School Of The Flower.

"Whether youre a newcomer to Chasnys sublime psychedelic folk or were a fan from the get-go and own all the limited editon vinyl, no one could possibly be disappointed with this album." Amazon.com on recent album School Of The Flower.

"It's essentially easy listening for uneasy people..... hugely rewarding." Q magazine

Sounds great, and in upstairs theatre also

Pity I cant spare the 9 entrance

It will be special

If you join the regulars scheme 28p.a. (we both rejoined) you will get into this event for FREE. In the past regulars got-in for concession prices, but now it appears the ocassional goodie is FREE. We have already saved 6 plus another 6 for a dance event so all we need is another 16 saving until 31/07/08 & we have covered the cost of rejoining the regulars scheme...........Its a bargain more people should be aware of especially as there

are obvious signs of improvement in the music programme & elsewhere

What was up with the atmosphere though? It was horribly tense, when Eliza from Magik Markers was rawking out it felt like someone's grandchild was playing metal at an old folk's home! Awkward to the max. The sound was pretty rubbish, too, guitars needed to be way louder!

AND two people fucking wolf whistled as Eliza came back on for the encore!

That aside, was good to see Six Organs in Aberdeen, long may shows like this happen, etc (only next time downstairs hopefully?)...

The Kitchen Cynics were incredible. The sound for them was brilliant, which is kind of important for what they do.

As Mr. Scott said, the atmosphere did seem a bit awkward for Six Organs. I felt Ben's guitar was loud enough but Eliza's was waaaay too low, but I think that was maybe as much to do with her individual set-up and amp/lead/connection problems. She seemed to struggle to get what she wanted out of it several times.

I loved it when she rocked out though. Totally care-free of her surroundings.

The sound was crap, which is a shame as six organs are quality. The seating thing was far too tense. I still enjoyed it though
