Started going seriously downhill around about Season 10. I can honestly say I have only seen about one decent episode in the last eight years, the one with Fat Tony's son.Part of the problem was a lot of the staff from the "golden era" left, either to go to Futurama, Pixar, or in the case of Conan O'Brian, get your own tv show. By the time they were replaced, all the good story ideas had been used. Now it's just "Homer gets a new job/the Simpsons visit Africa-Japan-Florida etc/some wierd spin off idea like Simpsons sea stories or Simpsons fairy tales". Yawn.As poor as it has been in recent years, and as unpromising as the film looks, I still wouldn't hesitate to call it the greatest tv show ever.I would. Up until 10 years ago I would have said the same, but I don't think that title can go to a show that has been shit for approximately half the time it's been on air. Compared to something like, say, The Sopranos or Bilko which managed to be consistent across their runs, The Simpsons pales in comparison I'm sad to say. That said, apparently they got some of the old talent back for the film, which is a good start.
