I heard her interviewed on the radio earlier. She said when she found herself pregnant she decided she would do some research into abortion. She then complained that she had to do it all at home

"because all the pro-life websites were blocked at school"

which possibly gives a clue as to how balanced her 'research' was...

Ps - I heard all the commotion put wee baby Tyrone-Jordan-JayZee right aff his fags.

 Yeah, a safe-sex tshirt would have been better, but she's had a kid so she obviously didn't feel it was an option...

It's not exactly a tasteful tshirt anyway, it looks like something you'd get from a crappy stall after a gig...

If she's so anti-abortion why feel the need to wear a tshirt saying it? I don't have an "anti-peadophillia" tshirt.

The playboy logo doesn't offend me. As a brand it's actually quite disassociated with 'pornography' and much more closely associated with glamour and money and celebrity and excess. Neither does that silly little girl's T-shirt offend me. I don't really give a fuck what lost cause she wants to promote. It's just a shame that her 16 year old fanny is now in tatters. The boys in Banff must be gutted.

Because teen pregnancy and abortion is a relevant, continually ascending issue at her school and society as a whole. The reason you don't wear an anti-paedophilia t-shirt is because A, it's generally not an issue that permits two explicit stand-points (one being universally accepted as 'right', thus there is no debate, and no need to advertise) and B: you have never been personally affected by the issue you'd apparently be protesting against, something which generally motivates people into particular standpoints. Or I've touched a nerve; you were raped.

This hardly feels like a newsworthy debate - teenagers and badly-formed opinions go back a long way.

Whilst writing this I read the introduction to Rik Waller's wikipedia page.

Ok yeah, fair enough the anti-peadophillia was a bad example in that I haven't been a victim of it (thankfully) and it's not generally seen as a debatable thing.

The lassy does just seem to be wanting a big reaction out of everyone, it wasn't exactly a tastefully printed slogan either (the dripping blood). The girl just wants attention. it's obvious from her smug look.

However, I doubt a sixteen year old has sufficent experience to really understand what she's saying on such an issue, hence there being not much reason to pay any attention to it.

I think at 16 you can pretty much have developed and well-balanced opinions - she's also pregnant so surely she's better placed to comment than either of us?

Doesn't a slogan such as 'Abortion is murder' convey more a sense of sensational, sentimental, 'gone-through-a-trauma' teenage shock-seeker young mum on the path to figuring who she is, than well blanced, well informed and experienced human rights advocate?

By your argument, how can she comment, she's never even had an abortion..In fact, I don't think most politicians have ever endured much below the poverty-line. And who exactly is she advertising these opinions to? A bunch of equally clue-less schoolkids. If you think this girl is worth sitting up and paying attention to, then do so, but I've got better things to do. Bottom line is, the school shouldn't have bothered saying anything.

I'm not saying she was right to wear the t-shirt, simply that she is entitled to her opinion, having experienced the different emotions that come with motherhood and having been in a situation where many people choose abortion.

The manner in which she made her point was chidish, and I wish she'd go away.

Also, yep, the school shouldn't have said anything, and it shouldn't be in the news, and we shouldn't be talking about it!

Not necessarily, she might have had a caesarian (like Mrs Deviada ), so those crazy Banff loons may not have to head to the back door.

I think at 16 people are pretty much morons, this is why they aren't allowed to drive cars or vote. They certainly shouldn't be having kids.

Normally I would disagree with you, but having seen the father's Bebo page...

Oh, and everyone who takes the "Freedom of speech/it's just a t-shirt" view, do you think schools should allow pupils to walk around in those "Jesus is a C*nt" t-shirts?
