blairsea
HELP! HELP! HELP! PLEASE!Aereogramme are supporting Biffy Clyro at Music Hall but they have a huge problem. Martin the keyboard player is unable to use his laptop as his audio interface is broken. I don't really know what he is talking about so I'll quote what I have written down..."An audio interface for a laptop....sometimes known as a firewire soundcard(?)...basically to run output from a laptop.."Does anyone have one that Martin can borrow for the gig tonight...or know of a shop in Aberdeen where he can buy one???Please post back if you can help
Chris
Surely Bruce Miller's would sell such a thing? It's probably the closest place to the music hall that would.Instrument department is 01224 577208Although I dunno if it would be covered in that department or upstairs. blairsea
Martin phoned them but said that they didn't have a clue, so I sent him in person to go check it out.
Chris
There's a computer repair shop called Tech Rescue on Rosemount Viaduct(01224) 622312No idea what kind of stock they have for this kind of thing.Failing that there's always PC World on Hutcheon Street if they can get over there0870 242 0444They'll probably have it, but it would be expensive. black_matter
good luck guys. It's a proper bummer when equipment fails you at the last minute. I hope alls worked out.
Alkaline
Martin phoned them but said that they didn't have a clue, so I sent him in person to go check it out. They don't have any firewire interfaces in the selection they have in the instrument department. The only ones they have are USB. We (as in the 'upstairs' department) have nothing like that either as we don't specialise in computers. We only specialise in Audio equipment like Hi-Fi/Surround etc and TVs.They should have tried a computer shop. That would've been the most obvious place to try as firewire isn't a standard instrumental connection unless you are using a computer.Everest would've been a good place to try as would Grampian Electronics. You don't phone a car mechanic and get him to fix your home plumbing so by the same token phoning an Instrument specialist and asking for computer accessories isn't going to be fruitful

Alkaline
sorry, terrible attempt at an analogy.Terrible attempt at trying to look cool on the internet.Hope Aereogramme found an interface somewhere, though i'm sure being competent musicians they'd be able to put something great on regardless.
