Swingin' Ryan
For all interested, the new Rilo Kiley album 'Under the Blacklight' is out on August 20th.Apparently it's a kind of concept album in a fashion, with each of the songs dealing with a different character, and Mike Bloom is now an official 5th member on guitar, which would indicate there's going to be a lot more of Jenny doing keyboards with him doign second guitar, as is the case for the keyboard based stuff live.I for one am ridiculously excited, they've got better with each album and the Jenny Lewis solo/Elected stuff has been amazing, I'd probably bet a kidney it's going to be in my top 3 albums of the year. TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Care to enlighten me on the Elected stuff? I have all the Rilo Kiley albums and Jenny's solo album and they're all super good.
Swingin' Ryan
The Elected is Blake Sennet and Mike Bloom's other band, kind of Alt-Folk/Country/Indie Rock stuff. I haven't listened to them as much as as I have RK and Jenny Lewis but I love everything I've heard. www.myspace.com/theelectedFireflies in a Steelmill is a particularly good tune. Thanks for sharing!I'm looking forward to the new Rilo Kiley stuff... and maaaybe an extensive UK tour with any luck.No problem!I think the word on the street is there's a UK tour later in the year, possibly September or something, I certainly hope so. They're still one of the best bands I've seen live, Jenny's voice is flawless, not a note out of place.
Old Gold
I really hope somebody with the know-how gets them up to Aberdeen in that case.
KarmaTsunami
They're playing the Connect Festival on the 1st of September I think, so they might tour around that..unfortunately it means they could play glasgow/edinburgh and not venture further north i'm seeing them at connect but would pay to see them again in Aberdeen
Alkaline
Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins was an awesome gig last year. She has got an amazing voice.Hope the new Rilo Kiley album is gonna be good I'd go see them in Aberdeen, but i'm sure it'll only be a Glasgow date. allstardawn
yay, if the last few albums are anything to go by, should be good, although i guess something different is always good, too. also hoping for a tour soon too!
KarmaTsunami
Pitchfork: ForkcastStream of an as yet unheard song from the new album called 'Silver Lining'. VASTLY prefer this to The Moneymaker, and i hope it's more indicitive of the new album's sound.
Alkaline
Yes, that song is a cockload better than MoneyMaker, which despite giving it a few more listens in the hope that it was a "grower" was absolute shite.I really hope this other song is more indicative of the overall album because on the strength of MoneyMaker i wouldn't even have bothered downloading it let alone buying it. Stuart
I prefer Dreamworld myself. Silver Lining is lovely and all, but Blake's voice sounds better here than it has in any other Rilo Kiley song.A'bidy's saying "Breakin' Up" is the best on the album.I'm greatly looking forward to it. historicrocker
Ahh, I haven't been here in a while, but I seem to find some level of magnetism in your posts, so I'll have to write something. I didn't like the Moneymaker for a while then I realised just last week how completely different and entirely colourful and new everything is. As for the rest of what I've heard it's not so different from before but still has this refined quality which always gives a new dimension to Rilo Kiley's new releases. So I'm happy to be quite fond of this new Rilo Kiley, though their new sound might be a little more lustful and dark than before. And any word of a tour would be music to my ears. Stuart
Whole album streamed on their MySpace. I love it. But I would.Breakin' Up is fantastic, it turns out. After 1 listen though, the title track is probably my favourite. But it'll be a different song each listen I give it.

Jimboo
Let us cut to the chase. I have owned this for over two weeks now. Utter shite!! No really it is.
TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
The "Gloria Estefan" moments on the new record are rather upsetting. I'd say there are about 5 really good songs on it, a bit disappointed really.
Alkaline
The overall lackluster feeling i was left with after hearing this album was usurped by the sheer brilliance of the new Minus The Bear album.
