Guest Tam o' Shantie
It's an area that we have never touched in all our years. Newcastle, Middlesborough, Sunderland? Any other places worth a blast?
Sam 45
http://www.aberdeen-music.com/forums/music-discussion/41168-newcastle-middlesborough-sunderland.htmlThere is also meant to be a nice wee place for gigs just outside Middelsborough called Stockton. I think they do gigs at the Ku Bar and get a regular crowd regardless. If memory serves me right the guy that books there is called Jimmy. He can be found at www.myspace.com/jimmyjukebox
betamax
Stockton is home to the Georgian Theatre - great venue! Prob inbetween Drummonds and the Lemon Tree in terms of size. Good bands and good sound. Dunno who the promoter is tho but a quick search on the venue name would get you in the right direction.Just avoid Sunderland at all costs. It smells of poos. Everywhere else is fine. And go to Leeds as well, just down the dual carriageway from Middlesbrough.
kirkt
If you go to Leeds, beware the fact it's almost impossible to get out of. There's tons of places worth playing there. Also, the Old George in Goole is amazing.Give Hartlepool a miss. Full of inbreds that look at you funny. Also try Murrays in Scarborough. The sound guy looks (or did back in 2002) like Fred Dinage. kirkt
And of course Ringside, The Adelphi, The Lamp and The Welly in Hull.
KatyS
if you're looking for the north-west, try the Brewery in Kendal, the Brickyard in Carlisle, the Mill in Preston.
