Rachie
Anyone have any ideas for venues suitable for a Friday night Ceilidh near the city centre and that aren't going to charge more than 400.Have spoken to the forum already and they're wanting 500, add cost of hiring a band onto that takes it to roughly 700, which really isn't feasible - or anywhere near it! - for a 21st birthday party.Suggestions would be welcome. Frosty Jack
Hotels would be your best bet for a ceilidh, they'll be well used to them, and will know what you need room-wise. Best not say it's for a 21st party if you can help it though, they'll bump up the price and try and offer you all sorts of extra deals. You could try the Station Hotel on Guild Street? Very central, and I'm pretty sure they'd be under your venue budget. However I'm not convinced you'll get a decent ceilidh band on a Friday night for 200ish. You're probably looking at double that anyway, unless you know someone...

Rachie
Exactly the reason I've had to sadly discount the tunnels.
Guest DustyDeviada
Don't know about the cost, but have been to them at the Station Hotel before as well.
Metarie
Yeah, it's unfortunate it's on a Friday because there's not going to be anywhere venue wise in town that's going to want to risk a private hire incase they lose cash. How about asking at your old school? Dunno what your connections are like there anymore, but it'll be in the holidays and there's at least one huge autitorium (I can't spell ) I've been in. Guest DustyDeviada
I've been to a Ceilidh at the Station Hotel on a Friday.Doesn't the Catholic church on Huntly Street have a hall? Maybe they hire it out.

Have emailed college office so we'll see what happens. Will have a mosey about the Station Hotel too, cheers for the help everyone. And if anyone knows a cheap but half decent ceilidh band...?
