Ry Cooder - Buddy Red cat (cooder back to the folky roots with duelling seeger bros on banjo)

Lhasa - La Lhorona. What can I say. Just read she released a new album so I'll be on the look out for that.

And I've kind of rediscovered Kenny Burrell too. Cool, and I stress COOL pentatonic jazz guitarist. Bop is the word.

i'm having a full-on retro RAWK day and listening to the 'DC and 'Maiden for some bizarre reason.

Maybe it's because it's my birthday next week and i feel old and therefore need to regress to my teenage years.

oh, and giving some bloke called "the kitchen cynics" a blast - anybody know anything about him????

this aint vegas - the night don benito daved my life

absolutely tremendous 2nd album from Sunderland lads. been a fan of this band for a good few years now, and i keep coming back to this album time and again. loads of intelligent triple vocal harmonies, guitar work and coy wee basslines. infectious as hell.

Niko - Life On Earth

Picked this little trip hopish/electronica/blah number up at the Aim gig at the Lemon Tree and really like it after a few spins. Not a million miles away from Aim's music but with a more feminine and slightly more melodic flavour maybe? Recommended anyways.

!!! - Myth Takes

Annoying name aside, the new !!! album's pretty good. Bass-driven dancey rock reminiscent of the route that LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture plow through modern music. Originally I thought it tailed off towards the end but no complaints about spending the cash on it now. Last track sounds almost Sigur Ros-ish.

'All My Heroes Are Weirdos' is an ace song title as well by the way.
