Why does every local band call a demo an EP these days? It's still just their friends and a few others who buy it and they'd probably still buy it if it was a demo. Or is it so they can add a couple of quid to the price?

BTW I'm not having a go, this is just something I've been wondering about for a while.

5 Local

Holy Folks (Anti-folk chick magnets)

Mark McCabe (Cynical boy with a fringe who doesn't play fringey-music)

Delawair (Olive Juice*cough*... wonderful down tempo and not so music)

Jess Yong (Lovely voice and a generally nice lady)

Kartta (for all your Tra-la-la epic needs)

5 Others (signed and unsigned)

Frank Turner (Critically acclaimed and damn good fun)

Beans on Toast (Clever politico-acoustic)

Gallows (Really didn't want to like 'em, but they're very good)

Hank Williamsn III (Alt-Country genius. One time bassist in Superjoint Ritual too...)

Dave House (More amazing acoustic guitar based power-pop)

Everyone has a myspace somewhere, so dig the bastards up

well its not really baiting anyone. its more of a "cardinal sins of young musicians 101" thing. im sure deep down everyone who preaches this or that has probably learned it from experience. its how shit bands become not shit

well anyway as i said i'm sorry about it man, i'm sure you wont lose sleep over it. How about we start a fresh and if I still annoy the whooring hell out of you i'll steer clear of you as much as poss?

My five local....

Kathryn Sawers (album hopefully out on Fire soon)

Staccato Set (I still count them as local)

Amber (as Is This Music said...very radio-friendly)

Mickel Mass (without me :( )....playing as part of Damo Suzuki's network and with Faust has raised their profile

Colon Openbracket are hopefully moving onwards and upwards

(what's the state of play with Hooker's Green????)

My 'non-local'....

PG Six (beginning to make waves...had a song on last month's Uncut' mag CD)

Jo Foster (really impressed with her at the Ivor Cutler tribute)

Mike Wexler (gathering a big following in NYC, but not over here yet)

Bridget St John (older than me, but ripe for rediscovery a la Vashti Bunyan.....if you like Nick Drake give her a listen....Devendra Banhart is a big fan)

Nalle (Glasgow-based folkweirdness fronted by a Finnish singer)
