Guest DustyDeviada
Surely Happy Talk is the happiest song ever, either by Captain Sensible or whatever musical it was originally from. But otherwise:Walk of Life by Dire StraitsYou Can Call Me Al by Paul SimonThe Night (December 1963) by Frankie Vallie and the Four Seasons
Diesel
In my head I link it to poor TV adverts and I find the woman's voice irritating. I honestly can't stand to listen to the entire song. I can cope with snippets.I know what you mean - it's right in your face and overwhelming. For me, it conjures up images of tatooed chavs in "aff the belly" t-shirts roaring it out at the top of their drunken voices in some Costa Del Slapper nightclub/hotel bar, before slipping off with some greasy waitera for "holiday romances". Guest bluesxman
I always find The Coral's 'In The Morning' to be a happy wee tune. And 'Alright' by Supergrass.

Diesel
Wan Light by Orange Juice gets me fairly joyous."Wan light surrounds my heartIts chimes make light of this dismal plight"Is that "Wan" as in pale? or given that we're talking Edwyn Collins here, is it the good old Scots vernacular "Wahn" meaning "One"?Either way, it works perfectly

Diesel
I 100% agree. It's almost at the point of being chanted like a football anthem. It's either that or you hear it in some cheap ass karaoke bar being screached out by some tone-deaf fat bird with a fag hanging out her mouth' date=' a gut that sticks out further than her tits and the face of a battered bulldog.[/b']   Sooooooooooperb Couldn't have put it better myself There's definitely a case for new "Slapper Anthems" thread..."I Will Survive""Man, I Feel Like A Woman""I'm So Excited"Would get my vote DZL
pogofish
"Happy" songs generally have the effect of making me want to fire-up the chainsaw, or better still a flamethrower.

Plato the Greek
Definitely 'Happy Days Toy Town' by the Small Faces with Stanley Unwin. If you watch them all together performing the track on Colour Me Pop from the late sixties they genuinely look like they're having the time of their lives. It makes me smile uncontrollably to see it. And I guess that's the whole point " 'allo Mrs Jones, how's your Bert's lumbago?" - "musn't gwumble " - fab

Rass
'Paperback Writer' by The Beatles always makes me laugh. I used to piss off an old friend on mine by singing the whole thing in a scouser accent so it kinda reminds me of that. It's also uber up beat and just a superb wee pop tune. Which also reminds me, Lady Madonna, its got such an ace feel to it.and possibly Go Go Gadget Gospel by Gnarls Barkley, but im not sure that thats maybe just because i think its ace and it makes me happy, as opposed to it being a happy song.
