Thursday live shows are back. Emerging new talent in a lunchtime gig environment.

Admission is free, there are no age restrictions and refreshements are

available including pasta and pint (or post mix soft drink) for a fiver.

17th August - Calrissian

Charismatic teenagers with incredible energy - noisy entertainment at its best.

24th August -The Gracias

The Garcias like to be influenced, mainly by cheap booze and women but also by Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and RHCP. They also enjoy Ivor Cutler and Hunter S Thompson.

31st August - Nils Elders

Nils Elders is a man who has seen the world from many different perspectives. Born in Zoetermeer, Holland at the dawn of the eighties he lived across the globe in exotic loactions such as Quatar, Brunei and Oman. A trend he continued when he finally settled in the Scottish highlands in sunny Aberdeen...

Nils is a man in love with music, obsessively passionate about melodies, harmonies and rhythms. He puts no limit on the range of music he's into. However, his broad range of influences are all linked by an overwhelming enthusiasm for clever lyrics.

7th September - Diablo

A raw hard-edged blend of indie-dance and grunge.

14th September - Amber

"Hauntingly beautiful vocals and great lyrics" - The Daily Record

21st September - Talkbook

Lo-fi magic from Copy Ha Ho front-man.

Jesus! That was a quick reply. Glad you were there French Disco - did you enjoy?

Yeah, it wasn't a bad way to spend a Thursday lunchtime - bowl of soup and a couple of pints. The band weren't really my type of thing, to be honest, but they were pretty tight and had some decent hooks.

Shite, did I just write that... how muso.....

A pretty accurate description though - speaking to the band after they stressed that they are more a night time kind of act and that the lunchtime show hadn't done them justice. They are good at what they do though and the 3 part vocals worked really well at points.

Tomorrow's guest Nils Elders will be a bit more laid back. Some of his tunes are accessible here

Gentleman's Pistol were excellent, like a much heavier Kings of Leon - good song titles too, and I'm pretty sure their bassist is our first ever lunchtime guest to have done a Steve Harris "aiming" of his bass at the audience.

Only caught one of Josiah's songs, but it was pretty damn good too.

This Thursday the 30th - Delawair

The duo say of themselves - 'We've' been together for some time now, through various line-ups and breakdowns. At the moment Delawair is a 2 man operation, and after a year of wandering, 'we' have compiled our debut long-player...................... "The Tree Which Begat Ye Shall Remain Untwiggeth -Recordings 2001-6 Vol I" - and it's creating something of a fuss on internet discussion forums - listen for yourself here - http://www.myspace.com/delawair

onstage 1pm

I've been the last 2 weeks, and thoroughly recommend it. Can't make Alamos, sadly as I've to move a cooker for my folks tomorrow afternoon.

Excellent reason - practical, philanthropic (assuming you're not charging them that is), displaying family loyalty and repsect for elders.... and kitchen related! Question is though Alan, would you move a cooker (or any other kitchen appliance) for the rogue-ish uncle you were singing about at Snafu last week?

Well....I'm a forgiving type, so I probably would, but my aged mother would probably use it to "bile his heid", if the old bugger was still alive:up:

(He was a thief and a bigamist, and caused my lovely old granny to take in lodgers all her life).

I would happily move a cooker for Alamos though (especially if it was a Baby Belling!).
