eat your parents
The X-Files' date=' Northern Exposure, Eerie Indiana... it's impossible to watch TV after Twin Peaks. I watched both series and FWWM waiting for the final series of Six Feet Under. When it came out it ended up feeling boring and insipid. I was waiting for Nate Fisher to turn up in the black lodge.[/quote']Yep, as well as Six Feet Under et al, I would say Millenium, Desperate Housewives, Supernatural, Riget (Kingdom Hospital), Veronica Mars, Picket Fences and Carnivale have been influenced by Peaks. The thing is, Twin Peaks worked on so many different levels, it was a melodrama, surrealist thriller, it delt with hard hitting issues like murder/incest yet was offset by quirky comedy, it was dark, it was influenced by the horror genre and stylistically borrowed from several differnet eras. Many of the programmes since have focussed on one or two of those areas. They're all good in their own right, but it could be said, not as bold.
