Your fave tuning?

Recommended Posts

I currently have my 7 stringer in the shop getting fitted up with an EMG 81 and set-up for the lowest string tuned to E:up:

The second string will be in B.

Low:up:

I like the dynamics that can be created from such a range.

What is your favourite tuning?

"change? we fear change" *hammers moving electric hand*

can you not change that to something funny though?

instead of breakfast... how about blowjobs?

Blowjobs?....and miss out on a bacon & egg buttie - get it right up ye!!!

Anyway, I'd have to change the acronym that's served me well for years and as is clearly stated, I fear change.

So the lowest string will be a octave down from a standard guitar E?

Weeping Jesus done that a while back. bass sounds crap like that.

Yep the lowest string is an octave down from standard E.

If WJ played guitars in E, what about trying your bass in standard tuning?

E A D F#B E - good for open G chords

E A D A B E - makes everything sound like Yo La Tengo

E B E F#B E - My Bloody Valentine

E E E F#B E - From Bad Moon Rising

E E E E E E - "Mr. E"

I like tuning a half step down' date=' as I feel it darkens tone, and you can sound that little bit heavier without getty muddy.[/quote']

+1, except i do this on my 7 string so the lowest note is Bb

As far as bass goes, just get a 5 string BEADG, can do anything with that, remember bassist.

KNOW YOUR OCTAVE !

for guitar however. Drop D is nice of course.

standard Tuning

Everything down a semitone

then if you want good open tuning, i guess you just listen to dashboard confessionals.

With things like,

DADDDDD a bit like Mr.D. And yes your B string can withstand this kinda tensions.

DADGAD is cool but you need to be second fretted on the G string to get a like, non-dimished sound chord, however i may be wrong, i cant remember.

DADGbAD thats good in all. And of course, all these can be Flattened, sharpend with Capos bla bla. I think basically, its hard to have a favourite tuning cause they are all used for so many different things. But i guess, your favourite tuning would come down to your most used.

SO for me hahaha My favourite is Standard Turning. Lets face it, Dillinger escape plan play in stanard, Living proof you dont need to down tune to be heavy. yet again, you may need tritones and Diminished 7ths.

thank you for reading about my life. Until next time.
