Metarie
on the new Dresden Dolls CD? It won't let me listen or copy any of the songs. Considering the tracks have been available online (and on their Myspace) for a while it seems a bit strange to be worrying about people making illegal copies of it now it's been released. *stamps foot* I want it on my MP3 player! The Kernel Loaf
Could you not just use a different program to rip them into MP3 format?
Larsen B
Were the tracks available to download online for free?
MattJimF
cause it's windows media and it's shite.
Metarie
apparently they were, I decided to be good and wait for the CD though, to keep the suspense and support the starving artist. My good intentions have turned round and bitten me on the ass I've only got Real Player on the computer as an alternative and it's isn't playing on there either. Damn. Anyone got any other ideas what i could use? Or maybe it's just my pathetically ancient computer. Media Player hasn't ever let me down before though. Metarie
I thought it was updated, was version 10 the last one or did I miss an update alert?
spellchecker
depending on where you bought it, you could ask for a non-copy protected version - if that's what the problem is.i did that when a perfect circle released thirteenth step - the one i bought from 1UP was copy protected, and was of no use to me considering i don't own a hifi. i took it back and they gave me a non copy-protected one. Metarie
Hmm. I'll try that. There's nothing on the cover about it being protected, maybe it's just a dodgy disk. It's playing fine on my CD player though.

Guest onlynik
You could also do one of the following.Use a ripper from herehttp://www.mp3-converter.com/mp3_converter_freeware.htmand make you own mp3sor you could just download the tracks, as you ahve an original anyway. spellchecker
it is illegal for them to call it a "Compact Disc" though. Philips owns the trademark and forbade any of the labels distributing copy protected albums with any mention of "Compact Disc" on them.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_disc#Copy_protection
KatyS
the dresden dolls dvd = fucking ace. (sorry for the pointless post - i just needed to say that)
Rachie
I'm still waiting for mine to come through the post, I'll let you know if I have the same problem Kate.I did however have the same problem with Mezmerize from SOAD. I bought the CD, then ended up having to download the whole thing anyway to get it on my mp3 player since my computer wouldn't even recognise the disc, yet it worked fine on other peoples. Alvin Starclusk
I've got a couple of Copy Protected CDs both of which not only won't play on my machine, but actually cause the whole thing to hang. Cue hard reboot. It's ridiculous that you can't make a perfectly legitimate copy of a CD you've paid your own hard earned for onto your own Mp3 player. Wankers.
