Derelict & abandoned buildings in aberdeen...

[ Fekin typos, I mean Derelict not Dereliction o_O ]

Anyway can anyone point out some easily accessible derelict & abandoned buildings in and about aberdeen?

Almost all the buildings I know of have now been pulled down over the years X-(

There's also the disused health centre on the corner of Whinhill Road / Great Southern Road. It's a relatively modern ugly square bastard with boarded up windows.

that's where all the aberdeen porn gets shot.

nah - that's my stamping ground - it's nearly all pulled down now and is being redeveloped into Luxury apartments.

There was old Elmhill House (former lunatic asylum) in Cornhill Grounds' date=' beautiful building. But the Burrell's converting it into flats now so not so accessible :(

Tivoli theatre?[/color']

tivoli isn't derelict or unused. it's just in need of fixing up. it's owned by a trust i believe who are trying to raise cash to reopen it.

what about warehouses, might there be some in some of the industrial areas of the city. perhaps the harbour area.

wow, now that sounds interesting.....

but sorry to burst your bubble, according to the developers site, it was a "B listed hospital" now i'm not sure if the B refers to age of the building or the category...but unless they are bending the truth in order to get folks to move into a "former asylum", it is a hospital.

In Peterhead there is the abandoned hospital.

And nearby in Lonmay' date=' if you go into the woods and jump over 2 fences you come to this HUGE old abandoned house. It is hilarious if you go there at 2am with only illuminated phone screens for torches.[/quote']

awesome, take me there. we can shoot adult films together ;)

On the Peterhead-Fraserburgh road, a few miles out of Fraserburgh, there is a road goes away off to Red Loch. Apparently this is where 'witches' were hung hundreds of years ago. The story goes that in the 60's sometime, a little girl went into the woods and was never seen again. Her bike was found about 30 years later.

And just beside the loch, there is an empty house, and I swear, it is the house from the end of Blair Witch. And when we crept up to the door, it swung open by itself all of a sudden, and we all ran like fuck.

if you head out towards peterculter, just after the waterwheel Inn there is a for sale board for industrial unit - if you take a right at the wee gatehouse then down the lane to the left is a massssiiivveeee site that is derelict. Not sue what it was used for but it seems to have been some sort of hospital type place. eerie anyway.

A property developer? Missing out one little detail to sell more houses? surely not...

"Royal Cornhill Hospital opened in November 1800 as the Aberdeen Lunatic Hospital. Built to replace cells provided in the original Infirmary at Woolmanhill since the 1740's for 'those who deprived of the use of their Reason', the new hospital admitted patients from Aberdeen and other parts of the North-East of Scotland and, at times, from further afield.

The asylum, as it become known, was enlarged on several occasions in the nineteenth century. Elmhill House, a separate building for private patients, opened in 1862"

Cheer up, your try-hard negativity is getting a bit wearing.
