Hi,

My name is bob, and i got tinnitus. hi bob!. i got it from the gig in the tunnels on monday and it's still ringing in my ears, especially my left ear. i don't hear it too much during the day but once it gets totally quiet (like at night, when I'm going to sleep) it's not very pleasant. accually, it's a fkking drag, hell, pain in the arse, or what you call it.

anyone know how I can get rid of it? or help it go down a bit? or will it go away in a couple of days? well well, lets hope so..

cheerio.. :rockon::help::gringo:

It should go down with time but permanent hearing damage is cumulative. There are no treatments for tinnitus due to noise exposure, only masking techniques to distract you from it. The best thing you can do is wear earplugs at gigs.

This is happened to me before, it lasted 3 or 4 days and I was terrified that I had ruined my hearing forever. There is nothing you can do except wait...

In bad cases it can last a few days. Let this be a lesson and start using high earplugs at gigs or any place with loud music. Not only will the gig sound better but you'll feel better. The foam ones are cheap and very effective. I have used some others and found that in the likes of Moshulu, even they aren't strong enough to avoid ringing ears. Some venues seem to play music far too loud.

You'll appreciate it long-term.

I should have grabbed a heap' date=' although they would maybe block out the music altogether.[/quote']

yup they would've. Go into R&B, they sell sepcialist earplug that cut out the most damaging frequencies and still let you hear the music. They're not for everyone though and personally I still prefer to go without.

i have them too. you're right, they spoil the sound of the band onstage. i prefer to go without.

my hearing has improved now that i don't work in drakes. weird, huh?

Converge's Bassist destroyed my hearing at Dundee two years ago, but it was all fine within like 5 days, just keep quiet music on at all times if the ringing is irritating you.

Playing in Evac however will probibly fuck my hearing up a fair bit, so now I wear earplugs in the practise room, so I can actualy hear by the time i'm 25.

Your ears can adapt to the sound with earplugs, same as it can adapt to ear-splitting destruction. If I'm playing a gig, I have to use them during soundcheck and watching other bands as well. I can't hear anything if I pop them in just before I go onstage.

i got this when i first started going to gigs a lot' date=' but now im so used to standing right next to speakers in tunnels drummonds and moshulu that it doesnt happen!!! yay for me![/quote']

Keep this post, write it down somewhere maybe, then read it again in a few years time. That feeling will be called 'sickening realisation'...

to prevent tinnitus use the inverse square law...the further away you are the quieter it will be meaning less damage to your hearing. Ears are irreplaceable once damaged thats it im afraid!

As far as the music being too loud in moshulu if it is then maybe you should have word in sum1's ear as it's illegal doubt they will hear you like they will probably have tinnitus too! :p
