Swingin' Ryan
I'd say Rilo Kiley have improved with each one of their albums. Although it's a pretty close toss-up between 'the execution of all things' and 'more adventurous', and on occasion I probably prefer listening to 'Execution...', 'more adventurous' is just a better album; musically, lyrically, production etc.
historicrocker
I'd disagree with the white stripes' date=' De Stijl is my favourite and despite absolutely loving it at the time, Elephant is possibily my least favourite.oh and Magical Mystery Tour is one of the beatles best. And they peaked at rubber soul.[/quote']De Stijl is fantastic. I guess it's like the whole Radiohead thing people seem to do. They like The Bends more than OK Computer because it's instantly accessible. Get Behind Me Satan is hard to get your head around most of the time but I definitely think it is their coming of age album.

Ti Jean
I was thinking At The Drive-In but I think their debut album is better than Vaya.First, if you are trying to suggest that Acrobatic Tenement is a better collection of songs than those presented on Vaya, you are seriously delusional; I am understanding that it is merely an opinion of yours, but when you suggest a haphazard collection - at best - of unimaginative emo-punk songs, sounding like a run-through of a blueprint already estabilished by a handful of Dischord bands, could compare to the melting-pot of ideas which is Vaya - a band which had truly come into their own - then your opinion seems to me, pretty irrelevant. Secondly, Vaya is an EP, which makes it exempt from this discussion, at least as far as I am aware - I thought this was concerning full-length releases? I could also argue that In/Casino/Out was their most cohesive record, whilst Relationship of Command was a little patchy.I have to agree with Dylan: Bringing It All Back Home; Highway 61 Revisited; Blonde on Blonde, are all undeniable records, each one surpassing the last - although my personal favourite is Bringing It All Back Home. In that case, however, could we not consider Sonic Youth: EVOL; Sister; Daydream Nation? I am also an avid Bjrk fan, but Vespertine was never a better record than Homogenic; personal opinion I suppose.
Guest bluesxman
They like The Bends more than OK Computer because it's instantly accessible.Actually I like it better because it is a more consistent set of songs, not a duff one from start to finish which I cannot say about OK Computer because it has a couple of pish ones. Paranoid Android
OK computer is 10 times better than the bends, the bends is only their 5th best imo.And i would probably agree with sonic youth from confusion is sex through to daydream nation
The Sloth
Theres one word i certainly didnt expect to see in this thread And even in the 'up to justice' argument' date=' i certainly dont agree, each to thier own dude.[/quote']Perfect example of preference, my favourite metallica album is justice, but obviously you like master of puppets better? historicrocker
I have to agree with Dylan: Bringing It All Back Home; Highway 61 Revisited; Blonde on Blonde' date=' are all undeniable records, each one surpassing the last - although my personal favourite is Bringing It All Back Home. In that case, however, could we not consider Sonic Youth: EVOL; Sister; Daydream Nation? [/quote']Since when was Blonde on Blonde even close to surpassing Highway 61 Revisited? Highway 61 Revisited is the essential, go-to album for a Bob Dylan introduction. Blonde on Blonde is too smooth, too streamlined and has nothing compared to the edge of Highway 61. historicrocker
Actually I like it better because it is a more consistent set of songs' date=' not a duff one from start to finish which I cannot say about OK Computer because it has a couple of pish ones.[/quote']For that argument to be plausible the middle of The Bends must just sound like white noise every time I myself listen to it because I can't even make it to the second minute of Bones (that's not to say that Nice Dream isn't worthwhile; I was trying to be smart and completely blew it by elaborating on what I meant here). OK Computer has not one song that's not worthwhile. Subterranean Homesick Alien may be a little testing but it's a damn sight better than what the Bends has on the cards (Sulk, anyone?).If you put forward the argument that The Bends was a definitive reflection on the pre-millenium world people would laugh at you. As for the argument that The Bends has more flow to it? May be but the moods and ambience don't change slightly throughout the album. Listen to Paranoid Android where the emotions of the song change dramatically; a far stretch from the simple Black Star which is a plain pop song with only one simple (but stunning) vocal part vocal part (third verse, I think).I don't agree with you in the slightest. Radiohead did not have a unique sense of style in The Bends; no songs with a real "Radiohead" mark on them. Fake Plastic Trees and High and Dry hinted at greatness but, without maintaining this brilliance throughout the album or stepping out of the UK pop platform fro a few moments, the Bends just didn't shine like it could have. OK Computer wins, by miles.
Paranoid Android
I think you're being a bit overly critical of the bends, i still think it's a fantastic album, possibly the best of it's kind. Maybe the best songs on it have been over played. But other songs like nice dream and bulletproof.. are fantastic as well. I agree Ok Computer is miels ahead of it but still look at what was before the bends and there was a similar increase in quality.

Marn
As mind - blowingly fantastic an album King For A Day is I would never say it is better than the genre - bending / defining masterpeice that is "Angel Dust." I think many would agree with this.Album of the year is also my second fave FNM album. In my opinion. It's all relative to what you like.In terms of a band "getting better with every album" I would agree FNM at least strived to make every album different and raise the bar each time with every release. They were never happy to rest on their laurels.A truly brilliant post, every FNM album is very different and so it really does depend on what you like.I would have to say 'Angel Dust' is my favourite album ever. Out of FNM albums 'King For A Day..' would come second with 'introduce yourself' after that.
Hog
I am going to be a semi-bastardlocal-Element 106, we have now found our sound and are best pals who happen to be in a band.Otherwise- Type O Negative, minus "World Coming down", Petes dad did die, so no wonder he didnt feel like making an album!
