Favourite Soloist / Solo

Recommended Posts

What is your favourite soloist / solo by that artist?

Mine would be:

Marty Friedman (Guitarist) / Tornado of Souls (Megadeth)

(I like a LOT of other artists so it's hard for me to pick, but for just now anyway, that one!)

i don't really like guitar solos but i like the solos weezer play.

I didn't say Guitar solos, I said solos, meaning all instruments. And I don't count playing the vocal melody on Guitar as a solo :p

On that note I'll add:

Michael Monroe (Saxaphone) / A Day Late, A Dollar Short (Hanoi Rocks)

Ian McDonald's flute solo's on I Talk to the Wind and the flute and mellotron solo's on The Court Of the Crimson King. melodic and tasteful. .

Keith Richards solo on Sympathy for the Devil. I love the sound of the guitar, real nice and biting.

Lots of George Harrison solo's from The Beatles stuff.

All Harold McNair solo's!!!

My favourite solo artist might be Kristin Hersh. But I quite like Dylan, Jeff Buckley, Joanna Newsom, and Micah P. Hinson.

And Mark Burgess.

Nuno Bettencourt's solo on 'He-man woman hater.'

Unbeatable for rock guitar anyway.

By and large, it's not normally my cup of tea, but her songs are genuinely very strong.

Thank you to Heather for the exposure.

Hide from X-japans solo on 'silent jealousy' is one of the best, perfect note choice and i love climax'. Also like the second or third solo on 'art of life'.

Emm, maybe 'Freebird' by lynyrd Skynyrd too.
