Tav
I was was wondering if anyone could tell me if there is a way of deciding what programs load on start up. As soon as I open task manager there are a few programs running that I don't think need to be and I would like these to stop. Basically just trying to think of ways to improve performance a little.Cheers.

spellchecker
open regedit and check the following entries for keys; each key in the following is a program that will startup when the computer switches on:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunServicesandHKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunHKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/RunServicesnot sure if i got the names quite right, but that's roughly where most of the startup stuff actually exists (e.g. where MSN messenger ends up being started from)
