Guest onlynik
So there are Live 8 tickets on Ebay now.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=58738&item=6539503657 If you won would you sell yours? I'd love to go but cold hard cash is cold hard cash.
psydoll
Most likely they'll just all be removed by the powers that be at Ebay...I'd rather sell my ticket than go most likely but I don't think I could do it - ripping off a charity basically?Pretty low. psydoll
But if the tickets are free how can it be ripping off charity.Well not ripping off a charity directly then but it's still cashing in on for personal gain on what's s'posed to be a charity event non? palmer_eldritch
I'd also be tempted to sell my ticket if i had one. I certainly wouldn't go anyway.Still, i really hate people who buy tickets and sell them off on ebay for shitloads. It seriously pisses me off, so i'd probably end up just giving the ticket to someone who would go...
Chris
how can people be selling them on eBay when the winners aren't notified until Thursday?

Frosty Jack
Seemingly Ebay have an agreement with Live8 not to allow tickets to be sold, so any that are put up are being ripped down as soon as they're spotted.
Doc Ascension
what is it, like a 1.50 txt to get a ticket? And an ebay buy it now price of 1500 so that's a 1000% profit or something at the expense of a charity? Fair enough if the winner donated the money to Live8, but there's no chance that would really happen. ITV news called the people doing it "Scum" haha. Paranoid Android
some people have put in bids of 10,000,000 to stop poeple winnign with serious bids, this seems liek a good idea. If enough people do this it could avoid too many tickets being sold for profit.
Fluffy
if i won tickets but couldnt go, i would sell them on ebay, but i would give all of the money from the sell to oxfam or another good charity.i have no resepct for the people who are selling them for a profit. thats just sad
threeornothing
Seemingly Ebay have an agreement with Live8 not to allow tickets to be sold' date=' so any that are put up are being ripped down as soon as they're spotted.[/quote']Not true, here is the official stance. We wanted to let you know that we will be permitting the sale of LIVE 8 concert tickets on eBay.co.uk. As we do not wish to profit from this event, we have offered to make a donation to the LIVE 8 charity at least equivalent to the fees we collect from the sale of LIVE 8 tickets. We are allowing the sale of tickets because we believe that people can make up their own minds about what they buy and sell. The reselling of charity concert tickets is not illegal under English law and eBay believes it is a fundamental right for someone to be able to sell something that is theirs whether they paid for it or won it in a competition.Regards,The eBay.co.uk Team Which is fair enough, I'm against the touting of ANY tickets on ebay for ridiculous prices, and I seriously don't think half the people who texted into this like sheep gave two shits what it was for. The concert is costing 1.5 million to produce, why did they need the concert? Why not just have everyone text in, donate the money, and thats that?!1.5 million would give africa more than a couple of new fresh water wells I would imagine.... Paranoid Android
http://search.ebay.co.uk/live-8-tickets_W0QQfromZR8QQfrtsZ0QQfsooZ1QQfsopZ1its a bit disturbing to see how many tickets are up there, but it's funny to see all the different bids on the top half of the first page. 10 million seems to be a popular bid
Terance
Very True , its like those 'charity bands' that people flash around at every inappropriate point . When and If i give to charity it is a selfless act and i dont need some sign to show that i gave .
Sam_b
I honestly couldn't care if the tickets are sold or not. The Make Poverty History campaign is a hypocritical heap of bullshit. It's not in the best interests of these less economically developed countries.

They're not looking for donations, other than to cover the costs. The point is to raise awareness about debt relief so that more pressure is put on Governments by their citizens, who will now realise how shocking the situation is. That would do far more good. We're talking about billions. That's a shitload more than they would ever raise by donations.http://www.makepovertyhistory.org/whatwewant/debt.shtml
