Paranoid Android
I've really been getting into this album over the past week, i always thought it was good but now it's probably in my top 3 SY albums, it's brilliant. What does everyone else think of it and how do htey rate it against other SY albums.
tranzmute
I really like it as well. post 9/11 effect is evident. Its pretty mellow in parts. plastic sun is one of my alltime fave tracks. I havnt listened to it in a while. I had it on constantly about two years ago but I would say its mayb my least fave sonic youth album. I rate 1000 leaves and experimental jetset....as two of the bestbut theya re all ace in my opinion
Camie
Yeh I love this album- got me into Sonic Youth. Can't really rate in comparison to their other albums it as I only have 2 other SY albums('Confusion Is Sex' and 'Screaming Fields Of Sonic Love') both of which are more darker and more punky than Murray Street.Murray Street is certainly one of my favourite albums to chill out to. 'The Empty Page' or 'Plastic Sun' Is my favourite.

french_disko
"daydream nation" & "sister" are the best SY albums by far.In fact, take "goo" and "dirty" into the equation & it shows the late 80s / early 90s to be SY's creative peak. Paranoid Android
Yeah i think Evol to Dirty is their best period, five great albums in a row, but i also think the two newest albums are up there in terms of quality and you never know they could have just started another great period. TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
Murray street really grew on me but i haven't listened to it in ages... You can see them mellowing out from 1000 leaves, thru Murray st and then onto Sonic Nurse.Goo and Washing Machine are my favourite SY albums. get lost
Goo and Dirty are my favs, I think, clean productions gives them a bit of clarity over some of their other work.

Alan Cynic
I agree with french disko re Daydream Nation etc, but I thought Murray Street was a real return to form. I kept playing 'Disconnection notice' for ages!!!

NARC
Confusion Is Sex and Experimental Jet Set are rubbish. Daydream Nation and Dirty are my faves, was dissappointed by Washing Machine considering the praise it's been given. Would like to hear Sister, especially the track on which Chuck D guests.I also read in the paper that Steve Shelley was 43 a few days ago. How time marches on...
