This should be a great day out, tickets are only 20gbp and so far the response from Aberdeen has been pretty disappointing, camping tickets are available also for those wishing to savour the sunshine and the beer,

Come on guys this should be a great day out, get your tickets from One Up now, it should be a really special day and it's all for a great cause, the Keith Cancer Link,

Cheers

And some background about one of the names you probably dont know, John Young, some of JY's bands include:

STEELEYE SPAN 1987-88

MTV (Europe) House Band 1989

ASIA 1989

John Coghlan DIESEL 1990

The LAW 1991

Paul RODGERS 1991 - 1992.

Max BACON 1993 (CD released 1995)

Bonnie TYLER's touring band. 1993 - present

John WETTON Band 1994 & 1997

John YOUNG solo 1999 - present

QANGO (Wetton, Palmer, Young, Kilminster) Feb - June 2000

GREENSLADE Feb 2000 - present .

FISH May 2000 - Jun 2001

The SCORPIONS - un 2001 - present - on the acoustica shows

Thats not a bad line up, and this is one of JY's rare solo shows north of Newcastle, it's not going to be to everyones tastes but if you like some of the bands he's played with then he's worth coming to see. He has also supported ZZ-Top, Magnum, Wishbone Ash and many other as a solo artists.

Some soundclips from the John Young Band:

Come on guys get some tickets, this is the kind of thing The North East has been crying out for, its starting off small but could become a really good event if we actually get some support, with decent ticket sales this year we can start looking for much better and bigegr acts for next year and the plan id to give more Aberdeen acts the chance to get involved.

Cheers

Some people might simply just have more important and better things to go to' date=' can't blame them![/quote']

Aberdeen fans in general are hugely apathetic and then are the first to complain nothing ever happens, ask Ross at moshulu about this, people complain about not getting gigs up here, well this is why, the line up may not be to everyones taste but theres a lot of different styles of band there and the atmosphere should be brilliant, this is a trial run really, if this works next year we get bigger and better bands, but even T in the Park started small, this could become a great thing and a chance for Aberdeen acts to play a big stage with some bigger acts. It would be great to see a bit more support.

I should have mentioned and this alone is worth the price of admission, that firm music scene favourite and much missed chap Mr Del Franklin is compering the event in a rare trip over from ireland !! People should come just to say hello to del, thats worth 20, you can go and watch him get progressively more drunk all evening...

Cheers

Fair enough, but think of the amount of people that have holidays coming up, other festivals and other shit. I've got a stagger that weekend but if not i probably wouldn't have went anyway as i can't justify paying around 75+ (ticket, booze, travel) when there aren't any bands that excite me. Other people may be in the same boat!
