Michael Hargan is a young Glaswegian singer/songwriter with a big voice and starting to make people sit up and take notice. In the short period of time Michael has played with acts as diverse as Damien Dempsey, Cherryfalls, Cathy Davey, Kristian Leontiou, The Levellers, King Creosote, Raising Kain, Midge Ure, and Ken Stringfellow (REM, The Posies). He will be joined by cellist Rebecca Green for this date.

"With honesty in his songs and recurring themes of love, hate and frustration, Hargan is passionate and goes from being the gentle lover in "Falling out of you" to the downright angry man in 'Remedy'." (Edible Audio)

"What makes him stand out is powerful and strong vocals that growl and whisper in all the right places, and an air of confidence to his music that suggests he probably doesn't waste all his time feeling sorry for himself like the rest of those pesky acoustic guitar playing singer songwriters." (QMUnion, CD Review)

"With slightly more ferocity than Rice, Hargan's rich and warm vocals often lend themselves to comparisons with Tom McRae, but although he sings with soul and emotion in his voice, he thankfully never sounds quite as miserable as McRae." (Live review, Fiona MacKinley)

The Show is the Rainbow is a mad-cap show starring Darren Keen from the US of A, formerly with pop-rock trio Musico, who comes armed only with a Walkman, a couple pre-recorded CDRs and his vitality!

Darren has transformed himself into a one-man-rap act that has been storming the US with a strangely unique yet catchy brand of hip-hop that's presented like an interactive, in-your-face freak-out bursting with energy and unabashed humor - it promisies to be a truly impressive and suggestive live show. With head-boppin' beats riddled with lyrical criticisms about the Omaha music scene, the Bush administration's gay marriage ban and the like, Darren performs from the floor, running around with his microphone, screaming his stories of Midwest depravity over music that sounds like a cross between early Beastie Boys and Har Mar Superstar.

"...a one-man explosion that leaves audiences either begging for more or wondering what the fuck they just saw take place before their eyes" (somedaynever.com)

"...where Johnny Rotten waited until the end of the show to ask the audience if they felt like theyd been cheated, Darren lets you know youve been had from the get go, by opening with a song whose lyrics are "Ha ha so you thought that you were gonna see a real band tonight!'" (starcityscene.com)

"...combining equal parts, electronica, sweat, sequins, ballons and epileptic seizures, TSITR could be the greatest one-man live show since Iggy Pop" (newsreview.com)

The Show is the Rainbow
