Who will you vote for in the upcoming general election?

Some explanations of why you are voting for a particular party/politician over an other, or not voting at all, would be nice.

Scottish Socialist Party for me, been a paying member these last 5 years or so. The rest just don't cut it for me. Besides, John Connon, the SSP Aberdeen North candidate is a mate so I'd have to vote for him anyway!

SNP unsurprisingly.

Been a member for a while now, and I just tire of the shit that gets loaded onto Scotland.

33 nuclear dumping sites identified for foreign processed waste.

22 in Scotland.

8% of the UK population, 66% of the nuclear dumping sites.

Go figure.

My mate is standing for the Lib Dems in Rutherglen and Hamilton West, I'd never vote for him, but I see your point

I was interested to read in the other thread that list you made and was struck by the number of similarities to SSP policy.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with some SSP policies. I just think that a lot of it is too extreme and that your lack of any costings for your economic policies undermines a number of your aims.

We do share some common ground though, but that is inevitable in politics.

y'know Jake....the SNP has a greater chance of winning seats.....

That's true, but not really the point. You vote for the party you believe in most, end of.

i'm completely uncertain as there are only 4 major party candidates in aberdeen north to my knowledge. it's either SNP or Labour that'll win...so it's between them. Totally uncertain.

The SSP are also standing in Aberdeen North. Just to give you more choice!

avatar makes it apparent.

an exciting' date=' forward thinking party who dont spend all their time bickering about why the Tories failed to do this, and Labour illegally did that etc..they put Scotland first.[/quote']

...who dont spend all their time bickering about why the Tories failed to do this...

that must be a different SNP I am thinking of then...

oh no, that's right, they just bicker about what the tories DID. (rightly so!).

In that case

LABOUR:

Yes to illegal wars

Yes to nuclear weapons

Yes to nuclear power

Yes to top-up fees

Yes to ID cards

Yes to council tax hikes

SNP

No to illegal and unjust wars

Yes to working for peace and justice in international community

No to nuclear power and weapons

Yes to renewable energy development

No to top-up fees and tuition fees

Yes to grants replacing loans

No to ID cards

Yes to community policing

No to council tax

Yes to local income tax

I'll be voting LibDem. They are the party with whom I identify the most and I think they have a great leader in Charles Kennedy. I got some Tory literature through the door and, surprisingly, agreed with a lot of it. I'm indifferent about Labour, completely disagree with everything the SSP says, and would like the SNP if only it weren't for the whole, "we need to be independent" issue...

My vote is still registered to West Aberdeenshire, where it's either Lib Dems or Tories, which is a bit of a no brainer.

Especially when the Libs would favour proportional representation in the unlikely event of them ever obtaining power, because first past the post is just fucking rubbish. If it was a PR system, I could be swayed towards the SSP, but probably not.
