SteveCrisis
The Cavern has or had a whole heap of their stuff in and at fairly reasonable prices too. They are something else.

ragudave
If you like Gang of Four try out early Wire, PiL, ESG, In the beginning there was rythym (on Soul Jazz), Mission of Burma, New York Noise, early Nomeansno etc etc

ragudave
There is also the compilation called "Post Punk" by Rough Trade - which looks pretty good at introducing lots of rather fine bands to those of us too young the first time around...Oh and The Fire Engines and Pere Ubu may be worth a try as well....Dave

Bought it a few weeks ago It varies from track to track, there's some fantastic stuff on it, and also some not so great stuff. It's def worth the investment though... it was only 13 or something like that, not bad for a double CD.I'm just getting into all this kind of stuff just now, working my way through the generalised compilations before getting down to some more specific bands. Biz
I used a Pere Ubu Lp as a frisbee,I truly hate that guys vocals, and discordant band.
Guest
I remembered to pick up my New York Noise CD today... I almost wet myself when I heard it (in a good way) it's all ranging from 1979-82 when such music was at it's sheer zenith... it's wonderful. BUY IT!
